Wheel/tire Upgrade Question

I'm starting upgrades on a '92 (non-turbo, 14" wheels) MR2 and need a bit of advice on wheel/tire selection. The car is pretty squirrely with the stock setup and I'd like to get a bit more stability while I'm upgrading.

Here's my proposed setup:

Front: 205/50/R16 (7" wide rim, +42 offset)

Rear: 225/50/R17 (7.5" wide rim, +45 offset)

Are there any issues with the larger total diameter (rim + tire) on the rear ?

I'm looking at the larger diameter rim in order get some extra width (0.5") on the back to try and come close to the stock stagger, while matching the rim style. I'd like to keep at least a 50 profile tire for ride comfort. Would it be better to go with 16" x 7" wide rims on all fours and just use a wider tire on the back instead ?

I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Bruce.

You might find this link usefull.

Thanks Davy. The link has alot of good info. I haven't found anyone running a taller rim on the back yet, so I'm still not sure if it will work well.
