... or maybe not! :censor:

Woke up on Sunday morning to find that next door had backed their flatbed into my Rav :censor:

Thankfully only the tow bar had made contact with my car, so when the van was moved forward the bumper popped back into shape!

Maybe I should borrow a train from work and park it on his BMW...

I think you should.

What did he have to say?

What did he have to say?

"It was my girlfriend" was his exact words!

Mrs Duncerduncs was ready to beat the living hell out of him (slightly shorter fuse than me... )

There is a slight mark on the bumper, but I should be able to polish it out :)

Naw ya big softie - Mrs Duncerduncs has a better view of things - fire bomb the house and turn yer music up loud - get some garden Speakers as well and jist make a nuisance o yersels until they move away....taking the truck wi them !!

Or you could do it the quiet un-assuming way and hire a 5ton mini digger to remove their mains water connection water and drains, "your hand just slipped" is an acceptable excuse  You could even ask them to return the digger for you on the back of the truck.........

OUCH!! Duncs, I appreciate you not wanting a big row with your neighbour, but i would seriously check there is no damage behind the bumper sometimes the plastic pops back out but there is still damage to the bumper armature or brackets which you may not notice immediately, i hope there isn't any further damage but think i would get it checked out just to be sure

What are airbags triggered by? ;)

I believe if the engine is off and the key not in location (as T180 have keyless) and no weight on the seats the sensors will be deactivated so no air bags deployed

There are inertia "trembler" switches up behind the headlights. You need a fair impact before they would deploy.

I've been pulled into a few airbag ECU design reviews. Was some years ago though. There was a whole heap of algorithm around the accelerometers and also a mechanical "safeing sensor" (metal ball on a track). Ign on, the safeing sensor has to close and all the other complex conditions met before any deployment.

Duncs - hope it all sorts OK. If Mrs Duncs does have a go at the neighbour, can you post it on youtube please?:lol:

re the last 3 posts on airbag deployment - load o sssssssssssssssssssss*****

sorry - ooops - wi any luck may be banned frae this foriii

Ma so called airbag oan ma 1994 RAV4 wis not triggered by any other sensor other than the steering column punching thru ma chest. A complete joke. it wis a mechanical device only.

Airbags are no that clever - ahve seen a few accidents tae tell me that they either don't work or they cause injuries.

The way ahm goin is to put in a roll-cage an 3" harnesses - look at the new child seats and harnesses and they prove it - a 3 point harness is a waste of time and the airbags are just a joke......do F1 use airbags??????

Close call, duncs, glad it popped out, though you ought to be able to sue for emotional distress (they surely would in Ireland!!)

I'm with LH on this one, get it checked out and any scuff marks professionally sorted out and then hand him or his van driving girlfriend  the bill!
