Hi All,

Our beloved 194K Celica ST needs some TLC on its tappets. Does anyone out there know the procedure on how to go about adjusting a 96/N 1800cc DOHC 16v engine tappets.

Cheers

It's all done with shims. Nothing to adjust in the sense of a quick adjustment. Haven't you got the manual ?

So shims are the answer! and there's my mech going on about how simple the engine design is. Your ref to a manual I assume means the U/S cover version retailing for around $19. Can I assume it covers the UK models in all but emmisions?

Cheers

You can down load it from celicatech site. I might be able to e-mail it to you but it would have to be alot of e-mails because of it's size.

Managed to log to celicatech but could not find manual. from the info supplied their it Looks like I will need a Valve adjusting tool & £23 odd and new shims although I may be able to swap the less worn shims around then just buy those remaining that are too far out to use. The cams look in pretty good nick so I'll just reshim for now.

Thanks

John
