Toyota Pitlane Alloy Wheel Centre Caps

Hi Guys,

I've been a member of the forum for a while, but this is my first post! Been considering an Auris for a while and finally got the chance to purchase a Black 3dr Auris SR 2.0 D4D. We've had it for three weeks now and done about 1500 miles in it. Stepping up from a Citroen C1 (Which I got because it is built by Toyota) it feels fantastic! Experinced a little brake squeal but no other probs so far. Really really happy with it. Will post some pics up when I get round to it.

I have a question though... The other day I noticed one of the centre caps on one of my pitlane alloys (the 17" ones that come with the SR) had come off. All the others felt fairly solid and I couldn't remove them with my bare hands. When I phoned the service desk at my local dealer the guy told me that it would not have fallen off and it must have been stolen. He said that toyota alloy wheel caps do not fall off. When i asked him why anybody would want to steal such an item he told me he did not know but it won't have fallen off. Thus it wouldn't be covered under warrenty.

So... my question is... do you think it could have fallen off or is this unlikely? It it has been stolen- Parts King- are I able to purchase them separately (as opposed to a set of 4) and how much would they cost incl postage? (I tried messaging you but I do not have enough posts yet!).

Thanks for your time people!

As your dealer said, it has most likely been stolen, some little scroat will have them as a momento oh his bedroom wall

A new cap can be bought on its own, price is £9.29 EACH delivered

Used to have this on my Yaris... yes they can fall off!!!

Usually get weakend when they are popped of during tyre changes!

So i wouldn't be surprised even with a new car if it had been slightly loose when clicked in ;)

Was just meaning in order to get one of these, without taking the wheel off to pop it out, surely there would be some damage on the alloy??

Well there doesn't appear to be any damage, do you think it could be that it wasn't fitted properly when it left the factory- hence coming off after only 1500 miles? For the sake of £10 is it worth pursuing with my dealer or shall I just get a new one??

Hoping my tyres are going to last about 20,000 miles!
