  1. 1. Less Than 24hrs To Go!

    • Stick with the GT4 and pay high ins plus high risk of another crash
      4
    • Swap my GT4 for a 2000 X Reg IS200 SE/Sport and get a nice motor with dirt cheap insurance
      10
    • Sell the GT4 private, use cash to pay off loan and then buy a cheap but nice motor like the Ford Scorpio Cosworth
      2
    • Put two fingers up to my bank manager and get something even more powerful (probably not smart)

Here comes the moment of truth, tomorrow im taking the GT4 to some dealers to swap it for a Lexus IS200.

Looking forward to something nice and classy but at the same time one 3rd the insurance premium.

But im starting to worry about missing the GT4 too much and more importantly having to live with only 153bhp.

Pretty sure im making the right decision but would like some opinions before i make a big mistake.

despite the lack of power you will probably find your more than happy with the drive... smooth and great handling

power is ok but its hard to realease the power on these roads what with all the traffic about.. 75% of its time will be behind another car

so.. why not do it in comfort?

obviously can't compare a GT4 to a IS200 m8, they do their jobs in different ways!

the is200 is a gorgeously designed smooth cruiser and with a little effort they can look much more expensive than they really are.

your gt4 is a 300bhp monster with 4wd.... looks aren't subtle, car was designed to be outrageous!

do you want to go fast or look cool? that's the decission you've got to make

I think it could be good for you to have an is200 for a year or so to be honest! You can see if you like that sort of car, you can save money on your insurance for a year or more and then look at the situation again a year from now.

very different cars.... different images, different capabilities!

a tough decission to make, but a nice one as well ;):)

I know I wouldn't mind being in the position of choosing between an is200 and a 300bhp gt4 :P

Either way mate you're still gonna have a crackin motor. Better still tell the bank manager to stick it up his hoop and have both

Seriously though, the money you save on insurance you can spend on mods

Well, I said go with the IS. If you look at what others have done with theirs, you needn't stay with 150HP for long

Mind you, the other thing to remember is that you've only got 2 wheels driven in the IS: you've got to adapt your driving style, otherwise B) :crutchy: :ffs:

Never heard of a Scorpio Cosworth, only Sierra and 190E, Got a pic?

Search autotrader or google for the Ford Scorpio 2.9 V6 24V Cosworth Ultima.

Top of the range Ford and 0-60 in 8secs. Plus you can pick them up for under 2k for a 95 N. :D

Well im back from the dealers, drove the 6speed manual and the 5speed auto.

Decided i want the Auto because its so much easier to drive and also the manual's pedals are too close together like a peugeot so i dont actually have enough room to put my foot on the rest <_<

So auto it is then and i went to a few places but didnt do too well.

First the Lexus garage gave me the most stupid p/x value i have ever heard of then i went to london to look at another and i think someone had been sick in the boot

Anyway im very unhappy that i didnt come home with a IS today :cacker:, looks like im gonna have to sell my car first then buy an IS or else im gonna just get too little for the GT4.

I think they'd see the GT4 as being hard to re-sell .. most people buy scoobies ..

They also wouldnt like it as its been modified.

I hate buying from dealers as 9/10 times you can never drive away same day.

I would stick with the 4 but then I am biased :D

What kind of insurance are you paying then? And what was the prices you got for the Lexus?

High risk of another crash - why? and why isnt there a similar chance with any car?

I would consider the move to the Lexus to be a severe downgrade, the power difference is substantial  IS200 - 0-60 in 9.2 seconds (parkers) you'll be outpaced by all sorts Nova's Saxo's

Plus you don't have the knowledge that you are driving a true rally bred sports car :D

The Lexus can't give you that.

My 2p

Well things are picking up now and im getting people interested in the GT4.

I've decided to put the car back to standard so its more atractive to the majority (including dealers) plus try to get some cash back on the mods.

So if anyone is looking for some kit its here listed below if you wanna make me an offer :D

HKS Superflow Induction kit

Auzzie Downpipe (REV2&3)

Blitz Nur Spec R 2 piece exhaust

BSA 187 Cobra Alloy wheels with Yokohama Tyres (will need an exchange for original toyota GT4 wheels plus some cash on top)

Blitz Original Turbo Boost Guage (white with red writing - up to 1.5 bar)

TRD Sholder Straps (the good ones that are rare, not the crappy one's you find on ebay)

Sony MPX30 Headunit

JDM Celica Hypersports mats - 4

Im going to put the cat back in tomorrow and look for a cheap exhaust from quickfit or somewhere.

If anyone is interested in the induction kit i would be interested in buying their original toyota air box and filter.

I would be interested in the Aussie Downpipe :)

How many miles has it done and does it have the HPC coating?

Does it have the correct flange for the 205 with 7 bolt holes?

Any Ideas what you would be looking for?

offtopic but how do you get 300+ bhp from that lot?? whats the stock power level??

Because its got a Unichip which i need to leave in the car and also it did have a boost controller which was running at 1.1bar.

Its only seen about 500miles at the most as i only fitted it in November. Its coming out today so it should clean up like a brand new one.

Its got the high temp silver coating.

Its a proper ST205 bolt pattern but the intructions say it will fit an st185 too?

It cost me £300 (£238 + VAT + Delivery + Insurance) from fensport back in November and its still the same price. Seeing as i've hardly had any use out of it and its gonna be in brand new condition im looking for £200 for it.
