YES, if any warranty work needs sorting out it needs to be done BEFORE the warranty expires. As I always say, you get 3 years warranty, not 3 years and a day, warranty cliams after 3 years are very difficult to sort as they are looked at on their own merits

I better get it done asap as Toyota Guildford are the most reluctant dealers to carry out any warranty issues. For example my keys shattered when I terned the car on. I applied hardly any pressure since the engine starter motor did not come on... yet they claim it could be wear and tear and they have to take a look at it. A Honda dealer would never have this laid back attitude.

Unless they have the 6 year extended warranty right?

Or does that mean nothing?

You know, usual 3+3 extended warranty from Toyota and there is also 3+2 option too.

5 year (3+2) costs $290

6 year (3+3) costs $505

It's optional though so if you don't want the extended warranty, then it's 3 year. All of these, 3-5-6 are unlimited, no kilometer limit.

Oh and in order to get extended warranty, your Auris must be under 30.000 kilometers. You can't get extended warranty if it's over that limit and those price quotes are for Auris only, other Toyota cars has different extended warranty prices.

I thought this is regular for all Toyota cars around the world.

That's really interesting! Just spoke to my dealer and inquired about the extended warranty but he said it wasn't offered in Bulgaria. Did you get your extended service plan in Turkey and do you know if the extended warranty is covered by Toyota or some dealer? Could you check if this warranty would be valid in Bulgaria if I purchase it from Turkey?

Svet

Toyota extended warranty is covered by Toyota, not a specific dealer. There are no 3rd party Toyota dealers in Turkey, every single one of them belongs to ToyotaSA(Toyota Turkey) so the extended warranty is valid anywhere in Turkey, no matter which Toyota Plaza(dealer/showroom/service) you go to because they're are all the same(even their coffee tables at the lounge room are exact same).

I don't think you can get the extended warranty if you didn't buy your car from ToyotaSA(Toyota Turkey) and I don't think it's valid in other countries but I will call them tomorrow and ask, then let you know. ;)

I would highly appreciate that, my friend!

P.S. Although I didn't buy it from ToyotaSA, it was manufactured in Turkey (if this matters at all)

Should I MOT early from a Toyota dealer just before warranty runs out?

The DVLA website has this: 'The same rule would also apply when the vehicle is taken in within a calendar month of its first MOT. In this case, the vehicle owner would need to present their registration document.

If the vehicle is tested earlier than one month before its due date, the MOT will only run for twelve months'.

The DVLA website also has this: 'For example, a vehicle registered ‘from new’ on 1 April 2004 will require its MOT no later than 1 April 2007'.

So although most people assume an MOT is due after a car is three years old, the first one is due before it's three years old! If the MOT is done within a month of the car being three years old the MOT is still valid until the car is four years old.

I assume the three year warranty with Toyota means notify that they need to be notified (better in writing) of any faults before the three years is up - the repairs could be carried out later?

Because a dealer benefits from warranty work (they get paid) isn't it in their interest to inspect a vehicle just before the warranty runs out? Perhaps they have a 'duty of care' if you 'play dumb' and say something's up without being too specific?

Kind regards
