EFI Fuse Problem - Confused....

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hmmm, yet another problemette, hoping someone here could offer advice !

On the way to Brussels the EFI fuse blew so no power, had the local RAC equivalent give us a tow to the local garage where they had a look.

On replacing the fuse the engine starts fine but on closer inspection the power through the cirucuit grows. I drove on from there for a further 2 hours without a problem but would like to know what caused the fuse to pop in the first place, any idea's.

I am hoping it was a one off problem as when I popped the hood one of the HT leads had popped of so I'm thinking with my very limited technical knowledge it may have contact something which shorted the circuit and blown the fuse (don't know if this is possible).

The circuit was only given a chance to rise to about 8 (guessing amps here) before the engineer shut the engine down so am not sure whether the circuit should rise as the engine warms up normally anyway.

Am hoping someone here might have some clues so I may know what to expect on the drive home !!
