Hey guys, I need a new tomtom mount. Can anyone reccomend / link me to any?

The one it comes with is a sucker that you stick to the window, and it always falls off, it isnt good when you dont know where you are and are doing 70mph on the motorway and your satnav is on the floor

And id also like to take this oppurtunity to say that my tomtom is ****! It always crashes and gives me wrong directions! :(

Thanks :)

My Garmin 205T is connected via small plastic cup on the dashboard above the radio. Closer than on the windscreen and not those succion cup marks on wind screen.

Garmin was quite cheap and works great, like the graphcis more than on tomtom. Worth to take a look when considering next satnav unit.

What kind of TomTom do you have? There are so many different ones that all mount in different ways...

If you TomTom crashes a lot, have you tried updating it? I update mine at least every 3 weeks or so,

also taking advantage of the MapShare updates and mine has never crashed on the road.

The only time it went wrong was after an update of the application, so I did a recovery from backup

and all was fine again, next weekend a new update came out tht solved the problem I had...

For my tomtom one i have a adaptor plate from maplins (can't see it on their website anymore) Which is stuck to the dashboard above the radio and the suction cups stays stuck to it very well even at 70mph.

I have the tomtom V3,

this one; http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165685

I have updated it yes, it seems to be in the city centre where it crashes a lot, it doesn't actually "crash" it just doesnt know where i am for a few minutes, and then places me on a road that im not actually on lol. Also tells me wrong directions sometimes, like "turn right" when i need to turn left...

But yeah, its the V3 i have, if you can help id appreciate it mate :)

In cities reception can be obscured due to highrise buildings...

For a One v3 (same body as my v2) you could opt for a "Flex Mount" like this one on ebay.

This is actually the system I cannibalised for my custom mount mirroring my revcounter...

It has a flexible sticky pad with a ball-joint allowing for adjustment and has a fixed power-plug,

so when you slide the TomTom onto the mount it automatically connects to the internal

powersupply. This can either be hardwired or can make use of a lighter-plug, both are supplied.

Alternatively you can remove the balljoint (not obvious how, but it IS possible;

PM me for details) and mount the cradle onto something like a Brodit Proclip...

Or you can mimmick my setup, but it's been quite a lot of work to get it like this:

This is the (allmost) finalized mount I made based on the dual revcounters I showed a couple of weeks ago

Cheers that looks ideal. But just one question, because its a sticky pad, once you have stuck it down it cant be taken off and used again (thieves might see it and know i have a satnav in my car). Or can it be removed and used again? Ive read the eBay page but am just a bit unsure still

They state you can remove the pad without problems.

I can't cionfirm nor deny that, as I didn't use the sticky bit, just

the cradle (and even that was altered to fit atop the cowling)...

The sticky bit went out with the trash just yesterday,

else I'd have tested it for you, sorry...

My mount is homemade :afro:

This is how I did

1. I took a liquor-bottle-tube, my tube is a Ouzo-tube

2. Then I took a knife and cut the bottom lid of

3. painted it white and glued (or u can use type of velcro) it to the dashboard

4. Then I used the mount that came with the TomTom, the one with the suction cup to attach it in place.

Took me about 1 hour including the time the paint dried..
