Hi everyone! this is my first post on here. Wanted to wait till i get my new Aygo blue on thursday (traded up for 2005 Aygo+), but found this fab boot light on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-SpotOn-Lig...4P0ZTFXDQBEGVXK

I never really added anything to my old Aygo which was lazy of me because it does have a few little annoyances as you all know, like small rear wiper, boot light etc. So with this new model i've done alot of research found this very informative forum and i'm gonna use alot of the advice given and mod my new Aygo.

Anyway this light is fantastic!! really good quality, decent lighting and has three different ways of sticking up, screw, sticky strip or magnet which i have found the best, it just clings right on the metal on the inside of the boot lip. It is also pretty concealed though it doesn't look cheap or tacky if you want it placed elsewhere in the boot. The best thing about it is it has a motion sensor so when you open the boot up and reach inside you have light. I think this is the next best thing to haveing one already built in! and for a fiver!!

Will post more when i get my new model and if i come across any more little mods! cheers guys

Put a taped flap over the sensor to cover it to stop it coming on prematurely

Nice find. :)

Playing devil's Advocate for a moment - the motion sensitive thing could be a pain if stuff in your boot moves about as you drive. Guess it'd run the battery down quickly. The ideal way to incorporate it is with a series micro-switch on the hatch, but that starts to get a bit tricky...

Hey your right there buddy, hadn?t really thought about that lol also got me thinking about when the seats are down it will surely go off with the movements of the passenger/driver. i guess it depends where you place it a the stuff you got in the boot. I know from use with my current aygo that when ido use the boot for a big shop its pretty much fullto the briim and all weighted down so shouldn?t cause me to much trouble, plus i hear that the Battery life is reaay good. i'll have to let ya know when i put it to prper use. cheers

When I added a passenger courtesy switch I ran a second lead down to the boot behind the panels then added an LED light and earthed it via a reed switch and simple bar magnet hidden in the door seal that allowed power through when the circuit closed.

It took about 30 mins to complete, so now I have a light that comes on when the tailgate is open.

Just to let you guys no the boot light i've left a link for works fab!! and to my surprise i have found out that it only senses objects emitting heat!! so thats like us lol so you should nt have any probs with luggage moving in the boot and triggering it! i trieded moving loads of objects in front of it and nothing triggered it, as soon as i moved my hand into the boot it came on! don't need to bother with wireing it into the boot.

That's a nice mod. I did something similar for the storage compartment in the back of the RAV. How long does your light stay on after activating? The one I bought also has a motion detector and it doesn't come on if the ambient lighting is sufficient, so it never comes on during the day. Also it turns off after 30 seconds. Here's a post describing it:

Hello

Does the Aygo have the passenger door courtesy light wiring in the loom so we can fit a switch to passenger side-

No, there's no wiring provided, but there IS a hole for fitting a switch.

Wiring is simple: just one single lead to connect the two together...
