Title and description say it all: does the Aygo CD player play data CDs containing MP3 and/or WMA files?

Been through the handbook and there's no mention or either, which makes me think probably not...

And I've seen a few pix of Aygos with DIN-size stereos, so I guess it's just a very basic player and a number of people have upgraded?

I think in some of the brochures it says that is plays MP3 cds

No it doesn't play MP3 CDs.

It has 'MP3 Connectivity' which is a BS way of saying it has a 3.5mm jackplug on the front.

Yup - tried it last night with a CD-R containing three MP3s and a WMA file. It accepts the CD, the display says that it's playing track 1, but there's no sound at all and you can't skip to the next track. Tried it in my GF's Ford Fusion with exactly the same non-result.

Don't like the idea of a dangling lead so I'll look at other options.

I usually use an FM transmitter on my MP3 player. I also use it indoors as well

Thanks for that - inspired me to search eBay. Trying to avoid unsightly cables, and don't want to use up batteries, so I've decided to try a cheap and cheerful version that plugs straight into the 12V socket. Found this one on Ebay:

It's blue (not quite matching though!) and I'll see if it does the job. 2GB should be OK for about 500 tracks?

I was wondering if I could usurp the Blue's bluetooth feature to use with a bluetooth MP3 player, but couldn't quite fathom it out, and they were a lot spendier than this widget...

At 128kbps and about 3min per song you should be able to fit about 500 songs on 2Gb.

I just recieved my brand-spankin'-new iPod shuffle G3 and could only fit about 550 songs

on its' 4Gb since I have all my music coded at 192kbps or higher...

AFAIK the OEM carkit does not support "streaming music"

(AD2P) over bluetooth, so it wouldn't have worked anyway...
