T180 Owners! Chip Or Remap Available Now?

Hi all,

I have read a few threads concerning the varies ways of tuning this car but none from actual Toyota?

Also read that Toyota will be manufacturing one soon??!!!

Was considering the other options but with my car being a 57 plate and still under warranty this will no doubt invalidate this, or will it if I get a third party one like the Vemon???

Any information from people who has done this on there T180 or maybe Parts-king could lighten me on this??

Regards

Its been a while in waiting for a t180 chip but Parts King mentioned recently he was expecting a new chip for the t180 engine.

Once he recieves it he will run it on a test car for a while then announce the results and whether it will go on sale.

You say for the 2.2 T180 is it also for the 2.2 150BHP engine.

Parts king already has a stable chip for the 150bhp engine

I have a stable chip for the 150 BHP no problem, I have heard nothing from Toyota about them supplying a chip for this or any other model

I will be trialing a T180 chip kit soon, the car I was to trial it on was sold and I'm waiting for another to try it on. I am away next week on holiday, but hope to have one fitted for testing myself early April. They have been extensivly tested in Germany, but I like to try these things out myself before launching to the general public

Sorry for the delay but keep watching

Cheers Parts-king.

Excellent!!!! will the warranty still be valid with this on as it toyota product??

Wonder how much this will be approx and is it a DIY job or a toyota fitting??

Sorry for all the questions but these will play an important part in whether to choose this or something else.

Regards

It is NOT a Toyota product and NOT covered by Toyota warranty, however it is a TUV approved product in Germany and comes with a 2 year warranty against mechanical defect. You need some mechanical knowledge to fit it, otherwise you MUST have it professionaly fitted

Thanks for that. so basically if anything goes wrong with my car I could be left with a big bill.

So you are selling this via a Toyota dealer when it is stable or via another outlet??

Well the chip kit won't make your car go bang! there is an unfounded assumption that a chip kit will boost your car to such a degree that it may blow up......wrong! The kit we supply is micro processor controlled and that will not happen

Toyota only supply a chip kit for Hilux and its about £850, so there is a market for them. We spent a great deal of time looking for a supplier we could rely on, we found one, their kit for T180 is not the same as an ordinary D4D as it works differently and has to be able to cope with the DPF issues, our new kit will be available from me (NOT any other dealer) within the next few weeks, after I have done my own testing with it. If I get a customer asking me questions about kits, I like to be able to say I have tried it and it works for me!

Hi Parts-king,

from experience ( thank God NOT personal) I do know that sometimes the chip will make the car go BANG... due to other 'mods' added to the car and people not having the common knowledge to watch out for the boost that the car is producing or/and the ratios... (but scoobys, evos and skylines are abit of a different car!!!)

Do not want to go into details but would like to know if this 'chip' is a piggy back or a replacement ecu?

Will this 'chip' put in the right air/fuel ratio or is it another one that fools the ecu into thinking more is going in?

Please, please do not take this as an insult but as a family man trying to do research for a decent, safe and no-hasstle way of improving an everyday car and doing it the right way by declaring it to insurance. Just want to ensure I do not get any headaches, the wife and kids are bad enough!!!! without adding possibly the toyota dealer and insurance in the worst case..

If this does fit the bill, I will have to wait for my warranty to run out before i purchase as i do not want the 'chip' being used as an escape clause... This has happened in the past with just a change of backbox!!! Not toyota this but another main dealer.

Out of interest, when you say only from me, does that mean Lindop TOYOTA or just you personally?

who is actually covering the 2 year warranty on the 'chip'???

Just that if I buy something from a main dealer I would fully assume that the main dealer, whether Ford, Toyota etc, has endose the product and any other branches of the same main dealer will cover it.

Parts-king :- please do not take this the wrong way!!! I am only concern about the aftersales service and what happens 'if' something does go wrong.

Cannot really afford to be without the car as its the only transport I have. I do 60miles round trip to work and thats the reason why I have had a 'few' avensis within the last 8 months!! lol :thumbsup: I HAVE ACTUALLY GOT THE T180!!! :yahoo::yahoo: dont forget the credit crunch too :crybaby::crybaby: do not want to be spending money on repairing the car but only on MAKING IT BETTER!!:drool:

Diverting from the subject I was wondering if the sideskirts can be 'made' to fit the car even if it has front mudflaps????

as always I hasstle you on bodyparts and accessories!!!:drool:
