Engine And Atf Oils

hi i got a vitz 997cc with 4spd auto .. can u help me out with a few things?

1. engine oil. toyota recommends 5w-30 but since i live in a hot country (malta) where the temp never goes under 5c but 50c in summer should i use some other spec . ex 20w 50?

2. Auto Transmission Oil. what is the spec of the oil used in its gearbox?

3. spark plugs. what should i fit?

i bought the translated manual but not much help

I read some roughly similar about the oil in my starlet's manual, but I think they're only referring to - "When used in Cold conditions use 5W30". From what I can tell when my local dealer changes the engine oil they use 10W40 Esso Ultra in the UK, but you might want to use something like 15W50 because you live in a hot country. Not sure about the Gearbox and Spark Plugs though.

10/40 is not that right oil for the car. My garage use Shell double helix. the oil isnt thin enough at low temp cos of the type of engine. I use Millers Fully Synthetin 5/40s from work. not had a proplem and it runs nice and smooth

Should have checked my Mother's 1L Yaris which recommends 5W30 (for between -18c and 38c), whereas for my starlet it only recommends this for between -18c and 16c).
