I need to buy a car-brand new

Seriously considering the Aygo because of its impressive mpg figures, and also Toyota's good reputation.

However concerned by the owners comments on 'What.car.com', and also this website, regarding the Aygo's problems with regard to water leakage into the veichle.

Can anyone advise?- Should I go ahead with the purchase?. Has the new 2009 model eradicated the problems?

thanks for your time

Can't comment on the 2009 model but I can tell you that I've never had a problem with my Aygo... people are far more likely to complain about problems than not. There's a thread on here about people who've not had leaks and there are loads of us, so don't let that put you off what is, in my opinion, a great little car!

To be honest I wouldn't touch one again with a bargepole, I also came on here before getting my Aygo and read about leaks but thought it's just the internet you're bound to just get people that complain. My car has just been back for the fourth time with leaks and hopefully it's fixed this time, in real life (not on the internet) I know of three other people that have had leaking issues with Aygos. You can sum up most of the problems as quality control issues during manufacture, in a phrase it would be "Imagine a Citroen made in the eastern bloc". The Aygo is just a C1 or 107 with a Toyota Badge on it, do not expect the quality you get with the rest of the Toyota range.

I've also not been impressed by the after sales service which reached a peak of incompetence this week with lending me a courtesy car with out of date road tax and finding a loose screw rolling around the car that should have been holding the door panel on after the last leak repair attempt.

It's a shame because otherwise it's a lovely little cheap car (if a little overpriced now against other small cars and discounts available on things like the new Fiesta)

Hi,

I had problems with my aygo due to water leaks, I bought it in September 2008.

It was fixed three times. I think the problem is solved now (???)

Besides, it is a nice and cheap car to buy and run. Is fun to drive too. I drive a lot because I work far from home and it is the best option I did, because of petrol costs.

I sometimes think that I could have bought something else, but [which car could cost the same and so cheap to run ???

That's the reason I still have it. I also because is so fun to drive it.

It's really a shame that instead of producing the IQ toyota should have change the aygo's interior, and it would be a sucess.

I think all the cars have problems, the same problem happens with the 107 and C1 and I see a lot of cars like this on the road.

Maybe because is a Toyota we expect more than from a citroen or a peugeot.

The guarentee is fine too, five years.

Whatever you decide I hope you're lucky.

It's not built to Toyota's other car standards to be honest, if you want a better built car get a Yaris or IQ from the Toyota range.

It is fun to drive though and has lots of character. I much prefer it to my old Yaris.

Mine has a bad tear in the door seal and still doesn't leak

Regards

All brands have their problems thomas!! Other cars are famous for huge engine & mechanical problems & are never solved in succeding models!! I prefer havin a few drops of water ( my aygo doesn't leak ) which can be dried of in a second rather than facing mechanical problems!!

If your car hasn't leaked your hardly in a position to comment on how easy it is to live with a leaking car, imagine the carpets soaked after it's been raining, the car taking days to dry out, the car starting to smell and having to wait until the heater warms up before you can drive anywhere because of the amount of condensation on the inside of the windows. Maybe you should live in a wetter colder country for a while with a leaking car and see how much fun it is.

I wouldnt be too put off by the water leaks, plus they released new door seals in 2008 (I think). The Aygo 2009 models should be leak free, ive not heard of anyone yet with a leaking 09 Aygo, would be interesting to see if anyone does though

Matt i can fully understand u. In yr case i would stick the car back from where u bought it & won't take it back until the problem is 110% solved!! He can water test it as much as he wants but if he gives it back to me & i see one single droplet i would then reject the car once & for all!! If they won't accept then i'll seek legal advice buddy. We have rights & i feel that after payin money for my car then i deserve a car not a puddle!! I would never accept the fact of taking a car to the dealer 5 times for the same reason!!

IT'S SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!
