Following on something discussed in the K&N thread I thought i'd start a new topic. I can get some exhaust heatwrap stuff quite cheap and I was wondering how easy it is to actually fit it? Looks quite akward to reach. In particular - does the metal heatshield come off easy enough? Here's a pic Midmotorsteve posted ...

good stuff. it is fiddely and takes a bit of time to fit but is worth it.ive wrapped the rolla down pipe from the turbo to just after the cross member and it does seem cooler. i can now touch the wrapping after a run and not lose skin

I see that in that pic, midmotorsteve has removed all the original heatshield from the engine lid. Is it worth buying new stuff or can you add this wrap to the original heatshield???

Im looking to get some of this wrap but is there a specific name for it when i go around asking at the shops...

burton power is where i got it from, mail order ford specialist, huge stock of all things performanceBurton power

I took the manifold off to do mine, does keep the bay a lot cooler, the manifold is the only bit of the mr2 exhaust that is'nt factory wrapped cause its so fiddly.
