Apologies if this has been asked before but i did a search and couldnt find anything.

Been driving me crazy for months now I though I had scratched all my cds as they were jumping like mad, so started to replace them and they did the same, and then I realised if I turned the radio on for a bit and then back to CD it would stop, but if I went over even the slightest of pot holes it would start again so am thinking some kind of vibration thing has gone on holiday? I have tried cleaning disc didnt do anything, any ideas I could do, dont really want to go to MR T again unless I have to but I need sexy bono to serenade me in the mornings!! Chris moyles doesnt have quiet the same effect :P

TIA

Sounds like there is definitely a problem with the stereo, unless you are running a rock hard suspension setup on big wheels. I live in the west of Ireland with cr*p roads (potholes, etc.) and the CD player has never skipped.

Sounds very much like a bad radio lead connection, i guess the cd skip is not a big leap just a small one when the problem bad connection lead moves at the rear of the unit, even a dry soldering joint in the radio itself could be the problem, the latter a little harder to find.

CD cleaning discs don't really do much.

What you need to do is this.

Take the head unit out and take the top off.

locate the slider rails for the optical sensor and apply a drop of 3 in 1 oil to them with a clean cotton bud.

Gently push the optics back and forth on the rails to get the oil worked into the bearing surfaces.

NOW, with another clean cotton bud and some methylated spirits, gently polish the laser lens and dry off with the clean end of the cotton bud.

This cures 99% of all CD problems. Takes about 5 munutes ( plus removal/refitting of the head unit )

Erm........NO - you're confusing it with Saturday night ! :o

3 in 1 is a general household oil for hinges, bikes, CD mechanisms, sewing machines etc. Been around for ever and available everywhere.

I am so happy you just refered to me as a kid :lol:

Compared to me, You are !!! :(
