Rav 4 Auto Gearbox Oil

At what mileage do toyota recommend changing auto gearbox fluid on a 1998 rav 4 . also how much does it take to refill , should it be flushed or any other tips whilst im at it. ????

i also read it has got to be toyota T-IV fluid nothing else will do ???? how much is this at the dealers ??

3.9 litres to fill ???????

Toyota automatic transmission fluid Tpe T or Type T-IV, or equivalent; changed every 20,000 miles. A drain and refill is up to 3.3 litres. The auto transmission fluid sump can be cleaned with solvents and dried by compressed air, and refitted with a new gasket. The fluid is best drained when its hot - ie after driving...taking care not to melt yer face/hands on the exhaust.

This taken from the haynes manual.

Nothing about flushing as it says the hot fluid will wash out the rubbish, and the magnets in the sump should be cleaned of all the spare teeth.....well maybe not exactly in those words.

Haynes is right, you don't need a flus has they often cause more harm than good. This oil meets the Toyota specifications
