"Power in the new 1.6-liter Valvematic has been increased by 20% compared to the previous 1.6 VVT-i—up to 132 hp (97 kW), with torque up by 10 Nm to 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) at 4,400 rpm. The CO2 emission level is reduced by 12% to 152 g/km for the sedan. Combined cycle (NEDC) fuel consumption is 6.5L/100km (36 mpg US). The 1.6-liter engine is paired with a new 6-speed manual transmission."

Will the price for that new, 2009 engine, be the same as it was for the one you have? I think the starting price will be higher also!

Whilst I sympathise with your sentiments..............what you have described there is EVOLUTION.

The design and specifications of all manufacturers moves on as they strive to improve their products as the years go by.

Whilst it must be dissapointing for you to find out that Toyota have replaced the vehicle that you bought from them just a short while ago, I feel that you cannot be justified in asking people to complain to Toyota.

It is a shame that you no longer have the "latest model", but as I said, that is natural evolution of the product, and something that you must live with.

Toyota, along with all modern motor manufacturers, are constantly improving their range of vehicles in order to make them more attractive to the purchasing public..................That is something that nobody can prevent and we should all try to accept.............That is EVOLUTION :)

The 20% increase in power is only compared to the old 110 hp 1,6 - not the newer 124 hp as fitted to your Auris.

From 124 to 132 are only 8 hp's, but there is also a 6 speed gearbox.

But that is all in the 'new' 2009 Auris'. It won't affect resale price of your car much. Don't panic.

As a 1.6 TR owner, I reluctantly agree that it is evolution, however, I always felt that from day one as a new mid range model, the 1.6 engine should have had a 6 speed box - as it is a higher revving engine, the 6 speed box would have partnered the 1.6 engine very well - it is a shame that it took 2 plus years to introduce it!

I do agree with that, it's evolution, cars are getting better and it's the fact. Companys do have possibilities

to develop newer and better models all the time.

Welcome to the real world. Maybe we should just go back to horse and cart to prevent upsetting existing owners. If this sort of thing didnt happen then your car would never have been made in the first place.

Sorry sir - this is no EVOLUTION

Car is not - is not - a computer in price 500 $. - THAT EVERY MOUNT rise a new engine.

A generation in cars field is FOUR to FIVE YEARS' and you cant make soo big chance so quickly .

When TOYOTA sold me the NEW AURIS WITH 1.6 NEW ENGINE 124hp.

they surly have the . NEW-THE REAL NEW. ENGINE 132 hp. in testing and progress.

So this is not EVOLUTION to sell old engine as new and within a year or so - start making and selling the new one

- This is not EVOLUTION This is PROSTITUTION

YES - I AM PANIC - Because I am old and Wise.

You don't get the point.

Maybe you are correct. but now it will be two version of Auris 1.6 engines in the market :

One - the OLD version = 124 hp. with 5 speed gear. Second - the new-really new version = 132hp with 6 speed gear.

When you will buy. second-hand new Auris - What you will prefer :

the OLD-NEW or the NEW-NEW.

Let say there will be 200 sterling deference between the two cars - Only a stupid will buy the OLD one with 124hp and 5 speed gear !!!

1,8 then? 143 Hp or even old workhorse 2,2 D-CAT/T180 177 Hp?

What about Volvo 240 owners, their old, trusty '74 B20 developed 82 Hp and '81 GLT Turbo had 155 Hp, almost twice than original, did they get refund?

When you're buying a car with current specs, you'll get what you deserve, nothing more.

New models are always introduced in 5 or 6 years from launch. In between there will be a facelift.

The Auris was introduced 2007.02 and now - 2009.03 - it has updated engines. This is only a running change.

In 2010.02 - a year from now - the Auris will be throuroghly faceliftet to match up with new competitors such as Golf VI and Mazda 3 etc.

When did you buy your car?

obviously not old enough to have developed a healthy cynicism nor wise if you buy brand new cars & then complain about a little extra depreciation because a slightly improved version comes out ... :P

Sorry, but with current Toyota approach to build quality and materials used, they will never match or beat VW or Mazda in these departments, nor will they ever compete against them in fuel consumption.

The fuel consumption figures in the current range of Toyota diesels are horrendous, (see the complaints in this forum) and use far more diesel than Golf's etc ever did or ever will.

The days when Toyota quality put them above other makes are long gone.

car manufacturers will always update and change. look at the T180 Auris when launched it had smart entry but no spoiler or other bits now found on the SR180. was the owners of the OLD T180 complaining? no!

what about ppl who brought the last of the old generation avensis? now there is a new model.

i dont get what you want toyota to do?

as i see it there are two choices, either trade yours in now for a new one or live with what you have.

so if toyota relaesed a new colour would you want your car changing?

Oh my, how can you be so cheap?

Cars evolve, faster now because of the big fluctuations in oil market and for the concern of people that believe in global warming.

Hi,

How can you compere " smart enter, spoiler, new color and other pinat you post here " - with a release of a new engine ,within 20 months,

that replace the first new one and stop selling this old one .There is not the case like in Golf were you can chose between two engines : 1.6 high-hp or regular-hp

This is not the way to make the buyers put their best money to buy yours car , and kip them for some years,

when you fake them because you sell them an incomplete MMT gear transmition -full of problems and male-function

and uncompleted new-engine - which suddenly it is better the the best engine two year before.

Yes - I start this night to spread all-over the net in Israel to sell my OLD-NEW AURIS -

and get rid of her ,as soon as possible, before they will start selling here the NEW-VERY NEW AURIS

and I will never-ever buy again a new car from TOYOTA because they fake me and I dont believe them any more .

My last post in this forum will be when to tell you all here that "I am not TOYOTA-OWNER anymore "

Maybe you should buy a golf. Oh hold on they've updated them. What about a focus, no hold on they've done them too.

MMM I think what you need is a car from a firm who dont exist anymore, what about a 1960s DKW. At least they wont bring out any updates

DKW%20F91%202seater%20coupe.jpg

Unless you count the fact that they became part of Audi so damn they've been updated to.

Maybe you should just walk.

It will if you get the price right :P I have 1.6 and the updated version doesn't bother me. New 6 speed gearbox sounds cool thou. Auris was a new model and many manufacturers make changes within few months after new model was introduced. You should go green and keep your Auris as long as possible and enjoy Toyota reliability

STOP SHOUTING

You are coming across as moronic.

You are naive to think that anything you buy (let alone your car) can guarantee a future sell value or indeed a guarantee sell.

If you are that angry about it, sell it now and buy something on PCP.

Whilst not wanting to deter Toyota owners from raising issues, I have asked this question once before (a while back) - is this a UK forum or worldwide forum? The reason I ask is that quite a lot of the posts on this forum are from overseas persons and often the model line up, engines, culture and spelling/grammar appear difficult for some of us to comprehend. Do overseas persons not have their own version of this forum? If so, do they post on those forums and/or this one?

There is a 1.3 Yaris with a 5 speed gear box, and now a new 1.3 Yaris with a 6 speed gear box and a different new engine with more HP and better economy. Manufactures are researching and developing their products all the time. It’s up to you to do your research!

If you want to buy an iQ there is a new engine coming out in July, so don’t buy one now!
