Sr 1.8 Oil Type

Can anyone tell which type of engine oil to use for the 1.8 yaris

semi synthetic or full synthetic

Straight outta the manual.

The interesting thing is, I did a google search for that there 0W-20... seems to be a very rare grade of oil. What was even more curious, the only two places I found it (one was Shells Helix stuff and I think the other mobile) both of which said was for tuned race engines...... So, how accurate is that there manual? Carry on reading my post if you feel like, but it's nothing more then a bitter rant... ;) Although, I wouldn't mind an answer to the oil question, because it has confused me a little!

And as many people whom have spoken to me in the past know, despite me owning one, how much it pisses me off the 2ZR-FE isn't a tuned sports engine... nor does it have a %$(ing turbo.

But it's ok, practically everyother car manufacturer can do it, I guess one of the worlds largests and most cash rich can't.

Oh yes, unless you live in USA, Japan, Downunder... and well, anywhere except Europe.

Low-viscosity oils are recommended for use in low-emission vehicles, its part of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport low-emissions certification system and not so much for raced tuned engines in the case of the Yaris

Ahhh thanks TVOR, thing is though, not even somewhere like Halfords sales it? Nor does any of the big players like Castrol etc? Infact, I can't find anywhere to buy it :(

Yes its not very popular type of oil grade did'nt bother checking Halfords because they never have what you want

We have 0w-20 oils, but they aren't cheap and you don't need them. I'd go for a 0w-30 or 5w-30

Out of those the Motul 300V would be the best premium choice. It's one of the best quality oils available. If you don't want to pay as much as that, have a look at the Motul X-Max or Motul Eco-Energy. The budget choice is the Fuchs Titan XTR, which is a very good semi-synthetic.

A fully synthetic oil is a better lubricant, lasts longer and deals better with hard use than a semi-synthetic oil, so if you drive the car hard, a fully synthetic oil will be a big benefit.
