Hello Everybody.

My name is Konrad and I am new to the Previa's forum.

I do have a problem (seems to be quite common one) with accelerating. Judging the symptoms it seems that the SCV valves in a fuel injection pump are to be replaced.

To be 100% sure I got the proper cable and software on eBay to get the codes. And here is the problem. The DTC plug suggests that the Previa 2002 D4D is a OBD2 protocol. But it doesn't work. I was informed that diesel cars have OBD2 starting 2004 earliest (my friend's Mazda 6 from 2006 communicates with the program with no problems...).

Does it mean that this is OBD1 protocol with a plug from OBD2? ...I've seen that it is possible.

Where can I get the proper cable and what software to use?

I will be happy for any suggestions.

p.s. I do not want to have my Previa taken to the dealer every single time problem appears.

p.s.2. I have seen first 15 pages of this forum ...and didn't notice a similar thread. Apologies if it has already been discussed.

Greetings

Konrad

It is OBD2 but not fully compliant. Only diesel manufactured from 2004 are full EOBD compliant. Even if yours is a 2004 it may have been built in 2003 and therefore would not be compliant. You can retrieve the codes from the MIL light though.

thank you, That is what I've expected (the Previa is 2002). Still have no idea how to read those codes through MIL.

I got the info on Internet that it can be done by jumping Te1 i E1. Have checked all the places where the fuses are located and can not find anyplace where Te1 and E1 could be. :crybaby:

Or maybe the mentioned DTC obd2 looking connection can be used????

:help:

Be very careful what you read on the internet. The process you describe is for the first generation Previa and imported Estima's.

I will dig out the info for your car and send you a PM with it. You use it entirely at your own risk.

Hi Konrad,

interconnect PINs 4(CG) and 13(TC) on the DLC3 connector,

then switsh on the ignition and count numbers of flashes of MIL.

It will give you two digits of trouble code.

Actually I had already supplied him with this information as per my previous reply. The reason I did not post the document on the forum is down to a little thing that is taken quite seriously in most parts of the world known as COPYRIGHT. Posting copyright material on a forum puts the owners of the forum at legal risk.
