Booked the rav in for a dual mass flywheel and clutch on Wednesday and low and behold I think it’s gone today, is there any one in the forum who has had the flywheel go all together. have not used the car much last week due to the above problem but went to b&q to get some paint Sunday only half a mile down the road , while sitting at the lights I heard a souped up moped screaming past me only to find out it was not a moped but my car, what a racket, I did think I was going to lose all drive but managed to get home and that’s where it staying to Wednesday . just wondered if this was normal when the flywheel was on it very very last legs , I have never heard nothing like it but then on the way home it stopped , still a bit noisy like a bag of nails jiggling right down your ear . Any one else had this or is it just more problems on my rav not just the flywheel …

Cheers

Hello :D :D :D :D

Yep exactly the diagnosis mine did... Only I was on the way to do an exam following a course I was finishing for work, mine just lost all drive and could not select any gear   left it in a carpark near by and ran to the exam...(I passed as well :) ) got it recovered back home.....

Sounds as if yours is going no where... only a low loader to get it to the garage...don't tow it as the RAV is a full time 4x4 and towing cant be done....(you try pushing it when no drive is possible   )

If you look at the pinned post at the top of the RAV forum... the DMF with the whole in it is mine and the dented clutch plate swell

Before the DMF went, mine was a bugger to get into gear 1st & 2nd and especially on hills... but after I had the new clutch and DMF fitted... OMG :o :o :o how smooth the gearbox is now....I take it out of gear if sitting in traffic for long periods and don't sit with my foot pressed on the clutch.... I spent all that money so want it to be nice and last longer...well my opinion anyway :) :) makes me mad seeing the wife ride the clutch and pressing the clutch pedal, long before she should :ffs: :ffs:

You will notice a big difference after the job is done....No bag of nails rattling around, just nice smooth changes :D :D :D :D
