Hello all,

First off I'd like to thank you all for an interesting and informative Aygo section!

I was due to take delivery, of an '09 Aygo Blue tomorrow (a new car for my wife), but received a call late this afternoon to say that the optional parking sensors were not working, and so a new set had to be ordered. This means we can't pick it up until later in the week.

The dealer, Gatwick Toyota, will lend us a car until it's ready, which is fine as far as it goes... but I hope this is not an indication of things to come!

Cheers

Hi and welcome to TOC

Shame about the delay you've encountered, but surely it's better this way than you getting the car and finding that things don't work, then having to give it back to get resolved.

Fingers crossed it'll be fine when you finally get it.

Good luck

Toll House -Crawley seem better than Horsham, but I now deal with Abbey Toyota in Redhill. They do every thing apart from selling the cars.

Keep on the case and any problems go strait to the dealership principal- he helped sort out the problem I had with mine.

Yes I certainly would rather have it sorted prior to delivery, and the dealer was up front about it, which I do appreciate.

I did do some research on the dealer, but could find nothing bad, so fingers crossed this is just a blip. I know, and appreciate, that things don't always go smoothly, but as long as I'm (truthfully) informed I can handle them. My wife is a little disappointed though... she was looking forward to driving her Aygo!

Cheers

Apparently the replacement sensor was also faulty, so a 'complete assembly' has to be ordered.

A friend planted the idea that the car might be damaged, so I popped in on my way home today to voice that concern. I was shown the car and saw no damage, but I did notice that it looked as if the PDI had not been started. There was no number plate and no parking sensors (or hub caps). I'm not sure if this is normal or not, so didn't enquire further.

The replacement for the replacement sensors should be in tomorrow I'm told.

My wife is driving their Aygo Black model at the moment, and likes it a lot, but of course is still impatient to drive her own!

Cheers

Sounds like they forgot to order the parking sensors in the first place, and stock has been delayed. Telling you they were faulty takes the blame away from themselves a little.

Now I've thought about it, I tend to agree.

The car, in it's current state, has not had parking sensors fitted... yet I was told the sensors had been giving a false reading. How could this be so if they hadn't been fitted to the car? Are they tested on a rig or something?

I was also told that the sensors would be fitted tomorrow AM, and the car would be ready for me to pick up. Thing is, I also ordered the GardX treatment, and that definitely hadn't been done when I saw it at 4:15pm today. Does that treatment take long to apply, or could it be something else that has been forgotten?

I also ordered a couple of accessories, so it'll be interesting to see if they are present and correct.

I really hope I am completely wrong here, but I'm starting to feel twitchy about the whole thing.

The GardX should only take a couple of hours to apply. If its like the Skoda system its basically just a paint cleaner/polish, followed by a sealing wax type product, but harder wearing. Easy enough to apply, just you have to give it a little bit of time to dry and set.

Im sure everything will be fine, I doubt they would let a car go out without everything being present and correct.

Testing is easy: connect all together, hook up to 12V and hold a hand in front of one of the sensors. Or, when

in doubt, touch the little disc in the sensor while the system is powered; you should feel a slight vibration.

When I fitted a set of sensors onto my Aygo I did a benchtest first too, so I wouldn't

drill holes only to find that something was wrong when everything was in place...

Meanwhile I've removed the little buggers as they were WAY too

sensitive, going off on the exhaust plume when it's cold outside :-(

Picked it up this afternoon, and all seems OK. It was raining, so I couldn't inspect the GardX finish but it does look shiny (not too impressed with the white powdery residue on parts of the inside though).

The speedo housing thing is a poor fit, as there is a gap and I can see a cable behind it (yes I do realise it is a cheap car :)). The gear stick gaiter keeps falling off, but nothing that an application of glue won't fix.

I drove it back from the dealer, and I have to admit it was a fun drive.

My wife loves it.

Cheers

Just noticed that we weren't given the pack of GardX stuff we need to use when we wash it... and the boot liner was put in back to front  Luckily the dealer is just down the road from us (for the GardX pack obviously... I can manage the liner :)).

The speedometer console thing is definitely misaligned, so I'll be straightening that when it's light tomorrow.

I think I'll also install the rev counter when I get a chance (and I hope that's not the start of a slippery slope of customization!) :yahoo:

I popped down to the garage to pick up the missing pack of GardX conserver stuff... only to discover that only the inside of the car had been done as they'd run out of time (this is the car they had for an extra 3 days!). The manager (I'm assuming it was) seemed as appalled as I was. Nobody had told me to bring it back to be finished and, apart from me perhaps thinking the GardX was up to much, I would never have known if the pack hadn't been missing!

I'm taking it in on Monday to get done.

I'm not sure what's up at this dealer, but they have definitely been off their game right the way through my purchase (apart from the money side... where they were right on the ball).

I'm looking to get a RAV4 SR180 in June, but I seriously doubt it will be from Tollhouse.
