Meet the clever new Corolla Verso

Toyota will launch an all-new seven-seater Corolla Verso MPV in May.

The Vauxhall Zafira rival makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Unlike the Zafira, the Corolla Verso has five rear seats that can be folded into the floor to create a flat load bay, a unique feat in the MPV class.

No prices or dimensions have yet been announced, but the new Corolla Verso is unlikely to be significantly bigger than its predecessor, and should match the Zafira and Renault Scenic in both size and price.

Engine and transmissions options have also to be confirmed, although a broad choice of petrol and diesel units is likely to be offered along with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Toyota promises the MPV will have class-leading active and passive safety, so we expect the Corolla Verso to come with at least six airbags and anti-lock brakes. Electric windows, remote central locking and electric mirrors are likely to be standard, while most models should also get a CD player and air-conditioning.
