What is the average cost of a cambelt change on a 2000 RAV 4.1? With Air Con

I have been informed by a local garage £160 without Air Con and £310 with Air Con. The without Air Con price seems fair but the with Air Con price appears a little over the top.

It does to me too but if the A/C has to be evacuated and recharged afterwards that is where it comes from. I will look later to see if I can find out.

I have never been quoted the lower price, but the £300+ figure is what I have paid twice on a '98 model.

(oh and can someone set the clock on this server? it is about 8 minutes slow!)

Thanks guys, cambelts ubik me right off. I've a chain on the SLK32. Just need to be more careful in choosing a vehicle when purchasing, no more cars with cambelts even if its only bought for a daily run around.
