Engine Warning Light

Hi

Over the past day or so, the engine warning light has come on on my 2005 RAV4 . The only sympton I have noticed is a fraction of a second lack of response from the accelerator; this occurred twice.

As the car is booked in for its annual service on Thursday, I have not had it checked yet.

can someone give me an idea of

a. what might be the cause and

b. what is it likely to cost to put right.

Many Thanks

It doesn't say in your profile whether you have a petrol or a diesel. It will have stored a code in the ECU memory to say roughly what caused it. A local garage can read the code but there are hundreds of them so it would be impossible to say what it was or how much it will cost. You can buy a code reader for less than £30. Toyota will do it for you but at a price and that is before you start to mend it.
