Bumber Protection Film And Parking Sensors

Ok I guess someone had to be the guinea pig and try this part on an older XT-R. So I did

First off, I can tell you that if you have no spare, ie XT-R, the wider trim from from Rav's with spares wont

fit. Even if you thought about trimming it it's still no good because the outer edge where it curls over the

bumper edge has a slightly different radius as it goes across. Meaning it would be flush at the sides but there

would be an overhang in the middle.

So I got the Kingo to send me the one for the new XT-R like GCM 1403 has. My Rav is a 57 plate XT-R but

does not have the parking sensors or chrome under trim on front bumper. And I can confirm that this part

does fit my model, granted it doesn't go under the door, and there is a very small gap visible between the

edge of door and trim. But it looks exactly as GCM's photo, so why Mr T are not listing it for all the spareless

Rav's is beyond me, as I am now baffled as to what the difference is  So if you fancy one, Kingo is

your man.

Hi,

And lo and behold through the Toyota Technical Document site http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/ I found 2 parts which apparently fit the bill. :yahoo:

I got my local dealer to order part # PZ415-X0523-00 as he agreed that on the description it looked a possibility.

I also am looking for a rear bumper protector and having seen this post rang my local dealer quoting the part number.

He made enquiries with Toyota Tech and this part is apparently for the new shape RAV4 due out in August.

As yet, nothing is made for the current XT-R without spare wheel except for the film covering.

Unless someone else knows better.

I have just bought one of these clear plastic films for my 57 XTR and its a rip off at over forty quid for a bit of cellophane with no fitting instructions either.

I had rear park sensors retro fitted by a Toyota dealer but not genuine Toyota part tho, which I am a tad annoyed about. I had a towbar fitted last week and now the !Removed! thing keeps beeping like mad, can the sensors be redirected to avoid this?

There should be a small round rocker switch inside the left rear of the load space. I was told by my dealer that this was to switch off the parking sensors for towing.

You may not have this though if sensors fitted later and not Toyota.

The fitting instructions for the film are online;

You should have had genuine Toyota sensors but mine do give off stray bleeps when reversing. I tend to ignore them until they bleep continuously. Mine as the switch that Dave describes and when I fitted sensors to Wollastons 4.2 we extended the switch to the front console so he can switch them off when he has the caravan on the back.
