when you go to start it does the engine turn over, if not it will be the starter motor, I'm only guessing by the noise you describe, that maybe the starter motor is not engaging on to the ring gear on the flywheel

It sounds like it's turning over but there's no spark, i have been getting really bad static shocks every time i close the door (sometimes when i don't even drive anywhere) could this be connected of the problem i'm having now?

I get shocks quite often from mine, the problem is not connected.

It could be sparking, how do you know it isn't?, could be a fuel prob.

My GF posted earlier about her yaris. Iv just changed her spark plugs which were filthy and blown the fuel residue out the pies and it NEARLY started grrrrrrrrrr.

Engine is turning over so its not the starter motor....... I think the next thing may be as you say some kind of fuel problem but im lost!!

Cant actually get it to the garage either.... how do you check for fuel blockages

I f the plugs were "dirty" It could be flooded.

Were they wet?

Take out the plugs again if the new are dirty leave them out and let the fuel evaporate, or take the fuel pump fuse out and turn it over.

Hi,

It sounds to me that the engine's flooded with fuel.

We had a similar problem a couple of years ago in a 2000 Yaris, I got the car out of the garage and drove it only a few yards to park it at the front of the house, everything was fine until I tried to start it again a couple of hours later. It wouldn't start so I checked the sparkplugs and found that they were wet, if this is similar to your fault then I suggest you just try and start it by turning the key and keeping the accellerator pedal flat to the floor until it starts, it could take 20 to 30 seconds to fire up. It will proberbly splutter for a couple of seconds and then be fine.
