Unknown Alarm Sounding

Haven't heard it myself but it's a happened a couple of times recentlywhen the wife has been driving- after a few minutes of driving with everything normal an alarm sounds. The main display doesn't show any problem and she hasn't seen anything else light up on the dash. Switching off then starting up again it disappears. She describes it like an alarm clock alarm rather than the louder "screech" of the ice warning and other main display ones. Only ones I know of that don't use the main display are the seatbelt, lights left on and "you've left the key in" ones - seatbelt light wasn't showing, lights weren't on, any ideas as to what it might be??

Does she put anything on the front passenger seat (handbag etc)? It could be the seat belt reminder. If anything is moving around on the seat it could be the reason why it’s intermittent.

Did she forget the hand brake? I don't know how that works, but some cars have a audible alarm if the handbrake is on while driving, but then you should see the hand brake light on the dash...

Nothing at all on the passenger seat and no lights showing on the dash, it carries on until she switches off then starts up again so she would notice if any of the warning lights were on.

There is a mod to the passenger seat occupation sensor. If it does it again ask her to plug the passenger seat belt in before she switches it off.

Will get her to try that if/when it happens again thanks. Might be something else she's missed, hopefully the next time I'll be in it and go through everything.

Howver if you are in the passenger seat with the belt on it probably wont sound anyway. Try setting the passenger one off and see if she recognises it. Just put a weight on the seat without the belt and it should go off. I would suspect the pasenger seat. Mines goes off with only a small weight rolling around on it.

The mystery deepens- the "ding-ding-ding" alarm hasn't gone off again in the past couple of days since I originally posted this... but....this morning went to the car parked on the drive and it wouldn't unlock with the key button, used the actual key to unlock the drivers door and the alarm went off. Nothing would shut it off key remote still wouldn't work turned the ignition on and started it still with the alarm going off, reset itself after 30ish seconds then started sounding again. Only way to stop it was to get out and leave it another 30 seconds until it stopped and it automatically locked the doors again. Wasn't the key, the red light still lit when you pushed the unlock function, also tried the spare which again wouldn't disarm/unlock the alarm and door. Spoke to the dealer and following their advice got in with the key, turned on the ignition then waited until the alarm stopped and quickly started the engine, alarm briefly sounded again then went silent. Drove it up and down the street then switched off, everything then worked, key button locked and unlocked it as normal. Dealer could only suggest atmospherics - a stray signal affecting it, know what they mean as I know of some bike alarms that failed to disarm at petrol stations when automatic doors signal or a nearby mast affected them but there's nothing local that could do this no one round here has even got an automatic garage door and using the key to unlock should disarm it. They reckon they will struggle to trace a random fault looks like I will have to live with it unless something else happens that shows a known fault up unless someone else knows any different.

BTW it's not the Battery, stuck that on charge to make sure and it quickly went to fully charged level.

Have you tried disconnecting the Battery for half an hour or so.

You might get a sound from the system when you first disconnect it. Make sure of the radio is coded you have the code first though.

Doing this can unscramble a confused system. It has worked in other situations.
