I have recently bought an Avensis T180 Tourer 2.2D and have dicovered a mysterious green LED on the dash emediately behind the steering wheel but not on the main dash indicator display. Does anyone know what this may be for?

TRC OFF indicator is on the main dash display to the left of the REV counter

This is the page from the manual, i did say it was an indicator light, and not a switch.

Item 10 is the TRC OFF switch. The LED I'm am posting about is on its own on the dash panel below the display cluster edge - Roughly behind item 6 on the diag.

Now with photo attached...

I am sorry but i have never seen any other green light in the area you refere to, it could be the service reminder light, but as mine has not come on i could not tell you, maybe this piccy scan may help you.

Sorry can not help you further.

Does your car have a towbar fitted? If it does, its the operating led for your electrics on the towbar wiring. If you put an indicator on, left or right, it will flash once.

Yes, I do have a tow bar. I thinks you've cracked it. Many thanks

It's obviously a non-standard fitment, PhilGee is probably right with it being a towbar pilot lamp, flashes when towbar electrics are connected and indicator working. If indicator on towed item fails, light stops flashing to let you know.
