I've not seen any real reviews yet, although the car was shown at Geneva I believe.

The new Honda Insight has been road-tested however and Autocar gave it a lukewarm reception (click here to read the article). It's not as advanced as the new Prius and couldn't deliver its claimed economy figures (although perhaps the current Prius is guilty of that).

The main changes to the new Prius include a 1.8 lean-burn 100bhp engine for better performance, and surprisingly, better economy and emissions (read more here).

New Prius is due for UK launch in June, from all I've read.

Road test clip................... (tip-click the HQ (high quality) icon, much better!)

Another informative clip, just a shame they couldn't find someone who could use a camera!

(part 2)

Here's another very interesting review.......

This is a great article, thanks for posting the link. Hugely detailed with loads of quality pictures to give an excellent idea of what the new model will be like. Have to say the new model is stacking up really well; for most of the journalists to "beat the challenge" on fuel economy is impressive.

I was looking at the YouTube reviews over the weekend and I am so looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Having sat in the new Insight at my local Honda dealer I have to say it felt very budget. Although it seemed well screwed together the quality of the plastics were a bit low rent. The new Prius on the other hand, from what I can make out in various reviews is a much higher quality product.

The Toyota GB website they are saying Summer 2009

I am going to California in May, so I am really hoping I can see it in the flesh over there :D

Fascinating - Not what is presented in the press.

Amazing technology in a "cheap" production car.

Makes the Prius seem fantatsic value.

Any idea how much of this we'll get in UK - e.g. Remote air con and Lane assist etc?

I would have thought that if they've developed the technology, there's no reason why we shouldn't get it here in the UK. Who knows, we may even be allowed the extravagance of heated door mirrors! :D

I've linked another (what I thought was informative) clip, this time featuring Tim Morrison (Toyota's corporate marketing manager) discussing the new Prius and Toyota's expectations of it. This one's nearly 25 minutes, sorry about the ads.

Hi,

went for a test drive on saturday and I should be picking up my T-Spirit tomorrow. But my point was that the salesman reckoned the new prius would be avensis sized, and perhaps too big for the UK market.

I would have thought there would be plenty of people that want that sort of performance out of a larger car?
