Decided To Upgrade The Sound System For Def.

Have like 500 spare this month but giving it to my mum to pay off a credit card, but should still have about 300 from overtime in may. Could I get two Speakers in the lid of the boot, a sub, and if necessary another stereo (Which can use the existing bluetooth setup) installed for less than 400?

Hi,

I just got a new Aygo Black, and will also be upgrading my sound system. Ive already changed the headunit, which has made a tenfold improvement to the sound quality. Its now much clearer and more bassy. I would start with your headunit 1st, as Ive also found the Speakers arent too bad. I got a Sony CDX-GT620U for around £90 and its spot on. Not sure what you would need to link it into your bluetooth. There are bluetooth units available so worth looking at.

As for subs, it depends how far you want to go and how much bass you want. If you want serious bass then you will need to consider some sound deadening too, but if you just want to add a bit more depth to your tunes, then maybe an underseat option would suit you. Pioneer do a nice little active sub for around £120 which fits under the seat.

Fitting Speakers in the parcel shelf isnt the best option for sound quality as the shelf is quite flimsy. Doors or rear panels might be a better option as they are more solid and you can add some sound deadening behind them to improve quality.

Hope this helps.

Yea its actually the pioneer under sub that im wanting to get. Can the bluetooth unit at the top of the windowscreen be removed if I get a headunit that has its own bluetoot functionality?

I would have thought so. Its an option for most models so I would think it just attatches somehow.

Im thinking of going for the pioneer sub too.

Keep us posted on how you get on with your upgrade and I will do too.

AFAIK the Original bluetooth setup plugs in between the cars' Harness and the radio,

so I'm pretty sure you can keep the system working with just about any aftermarket radio.

The only thing that will need to be changed is the connection

for the Phone Mute. (Yellow wire on yellow mini-ISO plug)

I agree with FunyDonkey that swapping the head unit for a decent one will make a HUGE difference,

especially if you compliment the HU with a subwoofer like the Pioneer TS-WX11A like I have.

I'm still running the OEM Speakers and I've got pretty good sound in my car...

If you've got bluetooth in the car then don't pay extra for a head unit with it, you'll be throwing money away!

As was mentioned earlier in this post, all you have to do is plug your new head unit into the bluetooth adaptor and you're

away.

I put a Kenwood unit in mine as I wanted to play music from a USB stick and the bluetooth works fine as before.

Just remember the mute wire or you'll have to turn the music down manually!

Only thing is I'd like A2DP Streaming from my phone, guessing that wouldn't be possible without a new headunit that has bluetooth?

I think the carkit disconnects the Speakers from the radio, so you wouldn't need to turn it down.

But I DO agree that connecting the wire is better, as most radio's also

pause CD, MP3/USB or iPod playback on command of the PhoneMute
