One tip for you Angel

I don’t know if the dealer told you this but if you have trouble selecting reverse, this is normal

Toyota in their wisdom have somehow made their gearboxes so that you can’t accidentally select reverse while going forward.

To select reverse,

Stop,

Release clutch,

Wait approximately 2 seconds, and then select reverse and it will just slip in nicely

Trying to select reverse straight from another gear with the clutch still in from the previous gear change, will make you think you’re gear box is faulty! It's not...

Hope this helps ;)

When I asked my dealer they told me it was down to no syncromesh on reverse. I find generally being nice to it seems to work ok - making sure the revs are at idle and slipping it into another gear first if it won't go in without force. I don't think you shouldn't ever need to force it into gear.

Imagine driving a car from the days before syncromesh was standard on *any* gears!

It’s not a fault or imperfection I found the information on the 2 second clutch up technique on a Toyota web site.

It’s just in case anyone has trouble selecting reverse!
