Hi

My Corolla T Sport exhuaust ( back box) is becoming noisy and looking

to replace.

Any reccomendations for just the back box and what will fit and sound

relatively quiet ??

I have an original T-Sport backbox sat in my Loft gathering Dust.

I replaced it with a TTE Backbox.

If you're after something different a TTE Backbox may do the job for you. It's just as quiet as a standard backbox when driving along at low speeds / rpm but makes a deeper noise when under acceleration. Sounds lovely but not something to wake the neighbours up all the time. Infact, there's videos on Youtube of it... Search for the user 'BladesOfGuyver' I'd direct link you but YT is banned here in work.

Cost is around £240 from Toyota. Which is less than a Standard backbox from them I think!

£240 :eek::eek:

The cheapest Remus i can find is £290

I would have thought Mr T would have added their bit, unless the Remus can be had for cheaper than i can find ??

I'd imagine so... Usually Mr T price is roughly £250. Parts-King discount 'n' all that! ;)

Give him a bell for the correct price..

Ah Mr King yes, thats what ill do :D

i was quote 190 + vat from Mr T for a stock TS back box.

It'd be worth spending an extra £60 for the TTE back box ;)

Aye - Standard Backbox is quite expensive. Usually better going custom or just getting a TTE to replace the standard box.

Does the back box affect your insurance much?

Posted

The TTE back box is a genuine Toyota part ;)

Posted

Oh ok so what does that mean ? Do you declare it?

Posted

I haven't... but mine was on the car when i got it... (and i have the original ad to prove it  )

Can't see it affecting your insurance really, it's still a genuine part... just has an extra tail pipe... and is less restrictive than the standard box....

So any mod done by a previous owner doesnt have to be declared ? Is that what you mean?

I declared mine and was told if it's just a stainless steel back box they couldn't care less, and it made no difference to my premium.

Was just meaning with it being a genuine part it would be hard for an insurance company to prove you had "modified" your exhaust ;)

Hi T Sport

Have PM'd you re the back box

Cheers.

Sorry mate - Don't have the net at home ATM and can only check at work and at my parents occasionally.

Let me have a think and I'll get back to you.

Yes but is it not a part fitted to the car when it left the factory.. that is your definition of a modification.

In some cases it was.... how would you prove otherwise?

The car has a full TTE styled kit on it.....

[Devil's Advocate] Plus you also have it listed along with the rest of your "mods" in your sig :spiteful: [/Devil's Advocate]

I could put TTE Spoiler, TTE Sideskirts, TTE alloys etc etc they are all standard items that were on the car when i bought it..... just like the TTE Back Box.....

;)

Everything you mentioned is a standard item apart from the backbox. Yes it is all parts for the car from the same company, but spoiler, skirts and alloys are provided by default on the car and the exhaust is not.

But how clued up are insurance companies?

It's stamped TTE as is the spoiler.....

I still have the orginal advert from Toyota for my car which clearly shows the exhaust in the pics.... it's not mentioned in the ad that it's a "modified" or "non standard" part....

That's the chance you take really, isn't it?

I remember when some !Removed! loosened some of the nuts on one of my wheels and it came off, the traffic cop that stopped to talk to me and get a report actually test drove a CTS and said if he'd seen my car he would have bought it, so we spent 10 minutes talking about it and he knew quite a bit about them.
