Fault Code P2002

Hi All,

I have a 57 plate T180 Avensis Tourer. I purchased the car new and it has now covered 133,955 miles. Today I had the engine management light come on, the traction control light on and the vehicle stability control light on. The car went into what appeared to be 'limp' mode and would not pull over 2000rpm. If I turned the ignition off for a couple of seconds all the above mentioned lights still came on and stayed on but the car would pull as if nothing was wrong!!

I had the dealer look at the car who then did a diagnostic check and the fault code P2002 was brought up. The dealers states: EML - P2002= Particulate trap effeciency below threshold.

Does anyone know what this means exactly??

The dealership has reset the ecu I presume and no more lights show and the car drives perfect!!

Any ideas anyone??

Think there is a common fault on them regarding that fault code. The dealer should have picked up on that i would have thought.

To Trev Miles,

With respect, i think the person you should be asking is your Toyota dealer. The latest way of talking to a cars computer ECU/ECM what ever you want to call it is via canbus protocal via car's OBD11 connection. You have a set of generic codes that the majority of manufacturers work from, but with all cars having different set up's ie: your car has a particle filter & a 5th injector to aid with the reduction of your emissions from your car. As far as i am aware this is specific to Toyota, therfore code is specific to Toyota. They may well have just carried out a ECM upgrade, rather like a patch for Windows Vista or XP.

Regards, Beagh.
