Hi everyone!

I have been reading this forum for a couple of months now... last saturday i purchased my first new car, an Aygo :)

It is red, 5 doors, and has no leaking problems(yet...)

I am from Portugal, and my these first 700 kilometers have been at around 35mpg :S hopefully will be getting at least 40 mpg soon

Well my real question is if anyone has the part number for the rev counter, because my car does not have one,

I have heard Peugeot's rev counter also works, but would also need the part number for that :S

will post pics saturday after washing it.

Regards,

Erick

I am surprised you are only getting 35 m.p.g. I have just bought anm 08 Aygo Blue demonstrator with 4000 on clock; and I am sure my consumption is way over 60 m.p.g.

I would be interested to hear from owners who have got rev counters, what the m.p.h. speed is in top gear at 1000 r.p.m.

Many thanks for your help

Well, I have done the math, 36 mpg, but the car is new, and I am still getting used to driving it... What I have noticed, is that the first 4 bars of the fuel indicator take longer to go off than the last 4... or maybe my driving got worse over time! :)

Thanks for the guides, I will have a look at them when I get home!

Regards,

If the figure in your signature from Fuelly is Litres per 100km, the I work out that your actually getting 43mpg. Can anyone else confirm this?

6.5 litres is 1.429 gallons. 100km is 62.5 miles, so 62.5/1.429 = 43.7mpg

Perhaps I had the configs for American MPG's, do you think it could be possible?

but google also converts it in the same way as I did,

see?

When I do the math with US Gallons I get 36,398 MPG.

With UK Gallons I get the same figure as FunkyDonkey.

And fully Metric in the oldfashioned way 15,385 km/l

This isn't that great to be honest, BUT mine was

about as econimic as well when I just got my car.

Running in the engine AND getting used to the car do a lot...

I hope to get my average up to 50MPG over this year and I'm

positive I can get at least one tank below 5.0l/100km this summer :D

Hi

I'm from Portugal too

I 've got an aygo black since September 2008. I still love do drive it.

It's funny because in portugal there are lots of C1 on the road but few Aygos.

Maybe because they are cheaper

Good luck with your Aygo

Yeah, Up until now, It has been great! already have around 1000 km's on the clock.... not bad for a car with only one week huh?

how much are you paying for service here in portugal? where do you take yours?

@Jan van de Wouw - Whats the best MPG you have gotten off your aygo? . I still have to get the rev counter to help me get used to the car...

I'm almost with 15000 km on the clock and it will be the 1st time to have toyota revision services.

So I don't know yet how much is a service in portugal.

I really don't have a rev counter in my car, so I don't understand what you all mean by "mph" ( I'm a woman...).

I know it's an economical car and fun to drive.

You're right it takes more time to first part of the gallon disapeared that the other half.

So I spend in 5 euros in 90 Km and still keep the reserve, so...

So far my best tank has been 5,04 l/100km = 19,84km/l = 56,05MPG

Worst trip ever was 7,06 l/100km = 14,16km/l = 40,01MPG, but that

was a trip in which I really threw the car around, really revving it,

shifting late and driving (too) fast, just to see what it would be at its worst.

Even then it was allmost twice of what my previous car would have been...

Getting a revcounter and installing a ScanGauge has helped me quite a bit

on achieving better economy. I'm contemplating CruiseControl now too...

I really don't have a rev counter in my car, so I don't understand what you all mean by "mph" ( I'm a woman...).

MPH is what the English use to describe speed.

It stands for Miles Per Hour, with a mile being 1,609344km.

If someonestates a speed in MPH multiply by 1,609344 to get that speed in km/h

MPG stands for Miles Per Gallon and describes Economy.

Again, a mile is 1,609344km and a Gallon in the UK is 4,54609

If you devide the figure in MPG by 2,8251 you get economy in km/l,

divide 100 by the economy in km/l to get l/100km

You're right it takes more time to first part of the gallon disapeared that the other half.

I think you misunderstood here: a gallon is a quantity of fuel, just like a liter is,

it is not a different wordt for the fuel tank or one of the bars on the fuel-display in the car.

I never realised that US and UK gallons were different. That could be where a lot of confusion is on the forums when people are comparing MPG figures.

An Imperial (UK) Gallon is 4,54609 liter

The US Gallon measures 3,7854118 liter

This of course also makes the U.S. cost of fuel a little less attractive. It is a change to have something in the U.K. that is bigger than what they have got in the U.S.A. !!!!!

A rev counter should help u s change gear at the right moment :) I have found myself in the freeway doing 120km's / h in 3rd gear,

MPG is like 'litros aos 100" but for the UK measures - Sorry for the portuguese here guys,

mela, I am not sure what part of the country you are from, but I am from lisbon, and still unsure where to take my car... If you see a new red aygo 5 doors, tis probably me!

@Jan van de Wouw - what should I get first? Scangauge? or the Rev counter?

Posted

If you want the scangauge get that first, one of the displays on it is a rev counter ;)

The four items displayed on mine are Water Temp, Volts,RPM and Inlet Temp.

I can't decide what you "need" first, but imho the ScanGauge is not really fit to be used as your only

revcounter. You can't read it at a glance, which you CAN with a needle sweeping over a dailface.

I've mounted my ScanGauge over the rearview mirror and have the display set to:

Economy in l/100km (LHK) | (LPH) Economy in l/h (but I play around with this position alot)

Coolant temperature in ºC (ºcWT) | (KTE) Tripmeter Kilometers Till tank Empty ("Range" if you will)

When I bought my aygo I told my friends I didn't have rev counter, and they said:" You don't need it because women, in general, don't look at the rev counters..."

I remember when I had my opel corsa before I bought my aygo, it had revcounter and I didn't notice. I just drive and change gears by the sound of motoring which I'm used to ( and it is not a problem with aygos).

Par example, my brother is 22 and when he drove my aygo he said, is strange it doesn't has a rev counter...

By the way, I'm from faro, and I will go to Toyota services in Faro.
