Hi all,

I am looking for hours and hours now on the internet to find out if it is possible to install a cruise control on my Yaris.

I cannot find anything for an old Yaris.

It is a 2003 model / 1.0 16 VVT-I with MMT. (automatic gearbox with manual mode)

(model SCP10L)

I need CC because my leg/back hurts a lot after 1 hour driving.

With CC I can move my leg if needed.

Thanks for any suggestions/help!

Erik

Hi Erik, I suspect you may struggle over this one. Cruise control is relatively easy to install while a car is being built on the production line, but to retro fit to a car is rather involved, and quite expensive from what I've seen quoted by some companies on the internet, and hardly gong to add any value to your car when you come to sell. I would also have concerns over the safety/reliability of such a system, even if I had a model that it could be fitted to. I considered buying a brand new Hyundai last year (cc wasn't available as an option) and told the dealer I intended to get the system fitted, they informed me that this would invalidate the warranty on the car! I had a considerable debate with them about this, but they were adamant over the issue and I therefore thought otherwise. I instead bought a used Prius T4 which had cc as standard equipment. I've had it on my last 4 cars and I wouldn't be without it. It vastly enhances driving comfort on long trips, and also keeps one's license clean too.

I would persevere with the car you have for the meantime, and when you come to change choose a model which has had it factory fitted. It's becoming much more popular, even on smaller models. Or consider a Prius? Auto transmission + cruise control standard on T4 and T Spirit, 50-60 mpg economy, £15 road tax, and a new model due in a few weeks so prices will drop on the current model over the next 3-4 months, a great used buy! Good luck with whatever you do.

Edit......welcome to the forum by the way, I should have observed that you are from the Netherlands so the £15 road tax comment won't apply, I hope the rest helps.

Thank you for your advise and welcome!

I will think it over and maybe installing a Recaro chair with a longer floor-rail will relieve some of the backpain, we will see.

Great forum by the way!

Erik
