Hi All

Just ordered some new Denso Iridium spark plugs

I know theres a few people on here who have fitted these also, just wondered if anyone could tell me what the gap setting is? and if they where pre set a ready to fit straight away or needed changing?

Thanks

You’re welcome. Let us know how you get on and if you notice any differences.

I understand that there are 2 competing Iridium spark plug brands; NGK and Denso. They both have much narrower electrodes than regular plugs (which is good), but the denso tip has a smaller diameter than the NGK. The trade-off with tip size is Denso’s smaller tip size is supposedly sparking more efficiently (by being dead centre in the cylinder), but NGK’s slightly wider tip makes the same claim and can last almost twice as long as a standard plug. Racing Denso Vs Long life NGK- you decide :D

Yea I was split between the 2 for a while, thought I would go for Denso as I prefer to have a slight performance boost. Hopefully I will notice the change

Any ideas how many miles you can do on the Iridium Power ones?

Well to be honest, I have had Denso Iridium on my previous car almost going 2 years now, ( it is a Corsa B running on LPG, The plugs lasted 35000Km's - Eroded due to LPG, but I did notice a large improvement, both on LPG and on Petrol... I was also having higher MPG's on it...

Maybe wen the warranty runs out I will try some on my Aygo...

Hopefully you will be able to get around 50.000 km's on petrol...

Thanks for the info, much appreciated :)

Would be brilliant if I could get a slight performance increase and better mpg

Replaced the spark plugs today (and the panel filter with a K&N)

All in all a pretty simple job. Main thing like whenever changing spark plugs the obvious things like just being careful and not cross threading.

Started up and took out for a little spin. Noticed the difference straight away when starting it. Seemed to start easier and sounded quieter/healthier when idle.

Overall 'pull' of the car when accelerating seemed more responsive and quicker.

This is just from a quick run out around the block, will find out any differences on the motorway on the way to work tomorrow!

Am very impressed already though

Do you happen to have a scangauge on your Aygo? would be interesting to see the difference in MPGs before and after the quick mods you have done :)

Please keep us updated... I am also thinking on doing the same... do you think it will void my warranty?

Nope, dont have a scanguage. Always thought about getting one, but never really had that kind of cash to spare on something im not 100% on getting.

According to Denso though, the Iridium plugs should increase MPG and have proven this with tests.

Dont see why it would void the warrantly. The standard plugs are also Denso, and the ones fitted are exactly the same size/fitment etc. Might be worth asking the dealer to be safe than sorry or if anyone else reading can shed any light?

Had a 3/4 mile trip on the motorway today (at 4:30am) so nice and clear. Did notice once again a better pull, especially on the slip road building up speed.

Im definately glad I finally did this :)
