Sticking/low Brake Pedal.

Was out in the car yesterday, and the brake pedal felt a bit lower than it normally does. Normally I have about a centimetre of pedal travel before the brakes start to work. It's always been like this in the four years I've had it, and it has been serviced regularly.

Anyway, when it was lower it was right on the 'bite point' of the brakes, ie as soon as I touched the brakes they were on instead of the centimetre of travel at the top.

When I got out of the car my wife pointed out that the brake lights were on. While the engine was off I pressed the pedal by hand and pulled it up again, and there was a bit of a 'twang' noise as it got back to the top. It is now sitting where it should be and drives like it has done for the last four years. After having a look in the foot well I can't see anything that the pedal could have been catching on.

Could it have just been the brake pedal switch do you think? Or should it be something that I let the garage have a look at?

Cheers.

Could have been resting on the switch. Strange how it happened for no reason though
