The new Auris will not only have the 1,6 Valvematic with 132 HP, but also the 1,8 Valvematic with 147 HP. The performance figures are (10 sec, 195 km/h for the 1,6; 9,5 sec, 200 km/h for the 1,8) and the consumption is only 6,5 litres per 100 km (around 43 mpg). It would be great if 1.8 would be in offer, but in pricelist there are no 1.8 :/

It's a shame that 1.8 wasn't in offer when i bought mine :/

I'm surprised that the 0 - 62 time for the 1.6 Valvematic is 10s, the same engine hauls the 110kg (8%) heavier Avensis to 62 in 10.4s, I'd have expected the Auris to be about a second quicker and nearer the time for the 1.8. It must be down to the gearing. Sadly, we probably won't get the 1.8 in the UK.

Sounds great, hopefully a civilised auto as well.

Seems we will not be getting an auto.Toyota sticking to MMT in the Auris.Wonder just how many core Toyota customers have gone elsewhere since the demise of a full auto in this class of car.

I know Honda ****** off a huge pool of customers when they chose such a radical re-design for the civic.

Big decisions these guys get to make.

Think the penny pinching is governing a lot of these decisions.

Still think toyota need to ensure they keep producing quality cars as a good foundation.

I was thinking of purchasing the revised Auris when it arrives later this year. But it would seem that Mr T in his wisdom is going to point me towards a Mazda 3 or a V.W etc. Why you may ask. M.M.T.

I had a car with that auto gearbox for nearly two years, it seemed like ten. Never again.

I wonder how many sales they are going to lose?

I suppose that Auris which will come at the end of this year will have Multidrive S transmission...

Please check out this topic for more info, you could've tried to use forum search or Google before asking such a common question! :)

Best regards, Alex

It's often preferable to communicate and ask questions with people. Google etc is good for the basics, but it can't beat a conversation.

Live out in the sticks in Finland? Not used to talking?

Mate of mine lives in Helsinki, although he's currently at his Summer house by a lake (I forget the name). Lucky *****. Looking forward to visiting him, the photo's of Finland he has taken for me are stunning. Not enough lakes and forrests overhere. You're lucky Alex. B)

Yes people in Finland are known as very quiet and shy, but on the other hand if I travel to the other countries and see Finns, they are all very loud, drinking and shouting very much. So it seems like everything isn't in the balance, I mean people are talking one thing but when you see those guys you may get a whole different picture!

I did not mean my previous comment as a negative one, I just thought that Multidrive is a pretty common thing and by writing the word in Google it'd be possible to find the needed information much faster. It's all about what's needed: Only an explanation to the term, or some bigger conversation, like comparsion to the MM-T and so on...

That is true, it's good to talk and I think it's nice to talk and get info via the forum, I also think that there is no such thing as stupid guestions, really! Maybe it was my bad to point to the Google, sorry. I meant it more like an option and advice :)

Maybe the lake is named Saimaa? It's pretty big and is in Eastern Finland... It's not a lake actually, it's a name of group of lakes which flow into eachother! To me those lakes and woods aren't the best thing, yes they look nice and I like them, but lately I was on the trip in Estonia, Latvia and Russia. I liked the nature there much more. The woods are on the sandy ground, everything seems pretty dry. But there's also many many narrow fields and much more rivers than in Finland... No rocks or hills which makes you able to see very far. It's also much more nice to drive a car there! :P

Best regards, Alex
