Key Compartment Door Do Not Close Anymore

There is a small compartment located between the two front seats in my Avensis 2006. It has a small flap door that can open and close just with the blow of a finger.

However now it stays open and does not stay close as it use to be. Looks like something in the mechanism has been broken or was displaced inside.

I do not know how to access the mecanism inside (spring ?, rubber band?) to try to fix it.

Can you provide me with a view of what is inside or how to dismount this ?

I have attached a picture of "the thing" :-)

Thanks a lot

Cheers

This is a manufacturing / warranty fault, which MrT admitted and rectified on mine. No moving parts inside applies here. Needs to be replaced.

Do you have any of your 3 year warranty left? If not, try asking nicely at MrT anyway.

Regards,

Big Kev

No I am affraid the warranty is over now...:-(

Who is MrT ?? You mean ask a favor to the Toy Dealer regarding this problem ? Do you have the registered defect number for this problem ?

Maybe providing the official defect number could help ...

Thanks

Pardon mon ami....je vois vous habitez a La France. "Mr T" en Ecosse et Angleterre est le nom pour "Monsieur Toyota"

I do not have the fault number, if there is one, but they should fix what is a fault of manufacture.

Bon chance avec MrT.....il n'est pas toujours le "bad guy....." Excusez mon francais s'il vous plait.

Regards,

Le Grand Kev :D

Thank you very much for this explanation ! :P

Has anyone manage to fix this on its own, by dismounting the flap by himself ???

I do not want to spend hundred of euros just for a problem like this one!
