4.2 Petrol Rav Oil Dipstick

I've just had my 2003 2.0L Petrol RAV serviced and my partner swears they've given us a different oil dipstick! As he's the one who checks the oil he is convinced it's different and that he's now not sure whether it's going to give an accurate reading of the oil amount.

Has or could someone with a 2.0L petrol 4.2 model possibly take a photo of the dipstick actually in the correct position from a side on view (The issue is, should the dipstick be pushed fully into the hole so the yellow handle is the only thing visible, or is it pushed in as far as the black rubber ring with half inch of the yellow pole bit sticking out?) and if someone could also take a photo of the actual dipstick as he swears it now has a twisted bit in it that wasn't there before!!!

I know it's a bizarre request, but I'd be very grateful to anyone who can help.

Thanks

Just had a quick look and mine pushes all the way in. Only the yellow ring is visible. About half an inch of the yellow part goes down into the tube, then black rubber washer is about 1" down and separates the yellow ring from a small tapered orange part.

The rubber washer (I guess) stops any oil splashing up the tube.

Sorry I can't post a pic (no camera at moment) as when I went down there was a bumble bee on the bonnet - probably awakening from it's winter slumber. This would have been a bee on the bonnet as opposed to your man who seems to have a bee in his bonnet on this one.

The engine bay may be a little dirty for some, but not all of us have pressure washers! :P

Many thanks for those great pics Duncerduncs I very much appreciate you taking your time out to help - And yes to Plutus, my man does have a bee in his bonnet over this one, but thanks to the pics and replies, his bee has swiftly buzzed off!

It seems maybe our dipstick has never been pushed all the way in so it seemed weird to him when he saw it! Or maybe he is the dipstick!!! I'm inclined to go with the latter!!!!

Thanks again for everyone's help, and it shows once again what a great forum this is where people go out of their way to help others.
