Auris T2

Hello people

Im new here and would just like to share my thoughts on my car - TOYOTA AURIS, T2, 2007

I own a silver steel auris T2 and i absolutely hate the car. I bought it as i was really attracted to and still am to the exterior looks as well as the interior but more importantly, because of toyotas reputation for reliable, quality cars.

I have owned the car for just over a year and i have had the following problems:

I have never been so worried to touch the interior door handle without SCRATCHING it or anxious when other people sit as to whether the cheap interior plastic will be scratched. Absolutely anything will and does scratch the door panels. Even turning the knob on the heating leaves a big rounded scratch all the way to where ive turned it. Was any thought put into this car that HUMANS will be using it?

Not to mention the popular RATTLES! They are everywhere and i always keep the music really loud to drown the rattles when other people are in the car. It sounds as though the car is falling apart!

Also whenever i fill a full tank, i can hear the fuel moving around in the tank as i drive. This happens for about 3 days till the next time i fill up.

I have never experienced this in any other car. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced these problems?

Also anyone have the T2 model?? At first i really regretted not buying the T3 because of the alloys, fogs, steering controls and colour coded wing mirrors. However, now i regret buying this car at all as i would still have these problems or worse even more?!

Hope to hear from any other auris owners whether or not uv had these issues.

Finally the steering wheel feels really funny as well as the gear and putting it in reverse is a mission. The car also tends to j erk a lot especially when changing gears and just feels unatural.

Hi and welcome.

One sentence of advice for you mate.

Get it all sorted out under warranty.

Personally i love mine and never had problems like you mentioned, only had squealy brakes (fixed under warranty modification) and very minor things.

Unfortunately, I agree about the interior quality and rattles.

The rattles may come and go, but what were Toyoata thinking of using those cheap, easily scratched plastics - in my opinion really lets the car down and will only get worse with time. I look after my cars, but even then it is hard work to keep it even presentable let alone anything like new. How could they make such a basic mistake? My previous corolla interior was durable and I had every confidence in it. Not the Auris interior though - frankly its almost as embarrasing as my beloved Ipswich Town football team!

You're right mate. You don't have any time to drive the car, as all the time goes to cleaning it. It really isn't very enjoyable when you always have to worry about what you can and what you cannot touch inside the car... I just don't feel myself comfortable!

Best regards, Alex

I am going to complain to Toyota's main office and write a letter that they should take my car back and give me my money, or give me a new car (the new model of Auris when it will be ready, hopefully by the end of this year, with Multidrive S transmission etc.) or they can also fix my car. Fix my transmission so it will work smoothly without any bumps when slowing down little by little, my brakes so that they won't squeak when I'm reversing, fix all the other noises coming from the front console etc etc... Of couse I cannot complain that the materials are scratchy, I just have to be paranoid about that I guess. I guess I'll have to live with the thing that when the passenger comes to the car I am always ready to scream "NONONO DON'T TOUCH THAT"

But yes, you really should complain about your cars guys, the quality is very low and it has to be improved. Otherwise out cars will be like this and we will be driving and suffering!

Best regards, Alex

Take it back to the dealer.

Good idea, and I've done it about 15 times since I bought it (I am serious)

and the problems are still there... I guess it's not an option anymore <_<

Best regards, Alex
