Hi All,

Im thinking of getting a '03-'05 Avensis T3-X manual but preferably auto - are there any major/known faults i need to look out for with this model? ie leaks, gear-boxes etc etc from anyone that owns or has owned one? THANK YOU!

Auto will be petrol only.

Had a diesel for 3 1/2 years and 90K miles. New clutch at 80K as it started getting rediculously heavy pedal from 65k onwards. Headlights were mediocre at best on dipped beam, other than that, can't fault it at all. Spec is better than T3-s, get one and enjoy!!

To AvensisBugs,

Just to back up above posting, a very good car. Remember you have an awful lot to choose (less on auto?) from, so don't pay over the odd's, drive a hard bargain. Don't hesitate to walk away from any potential deal that is not to your liking. HPI check & check paperwork over & over.

Regards, Beagh.

Mine is 2004 T3X Auto. Cracking car, love it, smooth gearbox, 1.8 engine can deliver a bit of oomph when needed too. Its no Porsche though!! Only issue as mentioned before is light output from headlamps. I paid £25 for some Philips X-Treme Power bulbs, well worth the money, much brighter!!

Watch for oil consumption issues mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but believe that if there is excessive use of oil per miles, Mr T replaces the short motor under warranty. But check other topics/postings for more details.

Mine is a saloon, and am v happy with it all. Push for a good deal, there is plenty to choose from out there.

Good luck

Thanks all!! some very helpful comments/replies here.

Was considering the TX-3 but these tend to be rare or quite a distance from me to travel to, even if just for an inspection :-(

spotted afew before easter break, but soon disappeared. was thinking of getting from trader sellers, moreso from the big establised names purely for warranty sake and peace of mind if anything were to go wrong. that said, they do tend to be abit more pricy. Was not sure what price bracket to aim for. Also is it possible to negotiate from the establised big-name trade sellers?

this seems costlier than previous ones ive seen, but is it worth it?

not too worried about petrol or diesel as long as insurance doesnt start going north :-(

many thanks all!
