Kensington Ipod Adapter For T-spirit

Hello!

I know the t-spirit has the Aux and power sockets in the central armrest, and that the toyota ipod kit doesn't work with the jbl stereo, but has anyone tried the Kensington LiquidAUX kit?

it only costs £40 and has a wireless remote (so you can get the ipod functionality) that attaches to the stearing wheel, but will it fit in the central armrest?

just wondered?

looking at the website I would say that, once fitted to the 12 aux socket, you wont be able to close the centre console cover, which is going to make driving a real PIA. Shame as it looks to be a good solution.

*edit* I was looking at the deluxe model, the 'normal' one would probably be ok, and a bit cheaper too!

is the difference the rigid ipod holder? I had a feeling the whole thing would be too tall for the console!

thanks for getting back to me

The Toyota kit, which fits in the upper glovebox, actually does work with the JBL stereo. Its controlled using the standard steering wheel controls, like an additional multi-CD device - each playlist as another 'CD'. Most disappointing aspect is that there is virtually no useful information displayed on the MFD screen (in fact, some of it is actually confusing - for example, it assumes the ipod is a 6 CD changer, so your 7th playlist cycles round and is displayed as CD1)! It is however a neat & tidy minimalist installation, but much more expensive than the Kensington one.

i ordered one of the chepare ones so I'll let you know how I get on. With the TSpirit I think the only way to get real on screen interaction is to get a third party unit like a harmon kardon or somesuch. And the price is just so much more.
