we have noticed quite a few scratches around the lower centre console, particularly where the wife has scratched it with the gear lock we bought. it is a mmt - has anyone replaced to lower bit of the console (cupholder bit) and the mmt silver gear surround? if so what did you do? i'm wondeing where the clips etc are and how to get the gearnob off...

also has anyone got any idea how much the partswould be (kingo ?!)

Thanks

Gear knob just unscrews, Mine was dismantled when I had my alarm fitted but did not see how.

I think there are a couple of bolts, similar to the handbrake moulding, interior007-1.jpg

There is one bolt in the little tray behind the gear knob.

Like FunkyDonkey said: pull up the little carpet in the hole between

the shifter and the parking brake, then undo the single bolt.

I'm not sure how the silver MMT-surround comes off, but if I had to guess

I'd say it's clipped on, just like the floppy rubbery bit on a manual.

And to remove it from the stick you'll probably need to unscrew the knob.

Sadly the cup holder part is very expensive

I would go and see either your dealer bodyshop or one of the mobile scratch/trim repairers that are around. They can do a sort of "Re-Paint" to the plastic to cover up the scratches, I have used them a few times when our parts van trim gets scratched. We once had some nutter throw a brick through the van window trying to steal something out of it, the brick went through BOTH side windows and caused a heck of a mess to both door trim panels. Once they had been re-sprayed you would never know

Do I need to think in tens or hundreds?

I cut a couple of holes in mine for

an iPod Dock and extra AUX-in... :D

Pics of centre console removed.

There are 4 clips to hold the cover to the gear selector, just lifts out but is easier if you remove the gear knob which just unscrews.
