Place i wanted to go to was closed so went into Halfords to check stuff out. They got some good stuff but the guy kept insisting naturally that instead of an underseat sub and rear Speakers i get a stupidly massive one which would take up all of the boot!

Im wanting to replace the entire thing. Head unit, front Speakers. one of those pioneer under seat subs hopefully and 2 Speakers in the back. Hopefully this other place will do it for me.

well Halfords boy just doing his job trying to sell the priciest stuff he can.

Get to a proper car audio speciliast tell them what you want and your budget they will listen to your needs not theres.

I can say this having been employed by Halfords for all of a day as there audio speciliast till i realised the shambles that was the stores management and promptly left!

Getting a stereo and 6x9s in on saturday. Its from an audio specialist and he said he'd rather I didn't buy a sub atall than get an underseat one, doesn't think they are worth the money. My only real option for a big one would be to do it in the spare wheel bit. Do I leave the sub, or just say to him thanks for your opinion but it's an underseat sub that I want.

I would sort your Speakers first, because having decent Speakers set up properly will give you an improvement in bass, especially if you add some sound deadening behind them to improve thier sound further. Then if your still not happy and want more bass, then look into the subs.

yeah good Speakers are the key

I too am looking at upgrading the sound... got a friend with an alpine stereo that i'm looking at getting and also looking at the Speakers ... Any advice on what Speakers to go for ?

Ive changed the head unit for a Sony one, and have been considering some Vibe Speakers. I had some Vibe Slick 60's in my last car and they were great. Very clear and nice weight to the bass. Im now looking a step above these at the Vibe Black Air 5's or 6's (not sure what size the door Speakers are yet until I get around to taking the cards off), and maybe some Slick 40's for the dash.
