sunroof problems, need help

I have a 1990 Celica and the sunroof stopped working. I took it apart and replaced the motor/gearbox, and it works until it gets to the point of pulling the roof back then stopps. I hand cranked it back the rest of the way, but It was hard to do. I was wondering why it stopped, is something causing too much tension in the system and stopping the motor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jay24,can you take out the motor and slide the roof by hand, if its still very tight it may be the cables, either oil them or remove them and grease them up, hope thats some help.

Hi, do you have a diagram of the mechanics behind the sunroof and how to access them? The Haynes manual for my 1988 doesn't have any information on the sunroof.
