Crack In Bumper Cap/trim

A friend of mine has an 2003 2 door Rav 4 which has a crack in the nearside rear corner trim which has the reflector mounted on it. This may be called a bumper cap but I'm not sure. I have been trying to source one online due to the ridiculous price from a main dealer (over £100). There are a few earlier models on eBay which are for breaking but I don't know which years had the same fitting as the 2003 model. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

these plastic bumper caps and bumpers are readily repairable by a competent body shop. They use hot air welding. I've had two done in recent years and they were as good as new. Have a look in Yellow Pages for Plastic Bumper Repairs or some such classification.

Thank you very much indeed Three5. I'll pass this on to my friend and I'll let you know.

Unfortunately Smartfix Plastics were unable to fix the crack so can I ask my original question again - what year models of Rav4 have the same bumper cap as the 03 3-door model? I may be able to get one from vehicles which are being broken on eBay if I know what I'm looking for.

Thanks

Dave

It's a bit of a lottery, there were three types of end cap fitted PLUS the ones with flared wheel arch extensions had a different one fitted as well. The three production date changes were 2000-Aug 02 PRODUCTION DATE (never confuse production dates with REGISTRATION DATES) 2002-July 03 AND July 03 to new model in 05
