Hi

I'm new to the site and the car,

I have an Automatic IQ2 but do very little milage (200 miles since delivery on 02/03/09) I do only short trips at present and have put £40 of fuel in the car up to now and got 35 mpg on the last refuel.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about fuel consumption but on manual cars are there any Automatic drivers out there?

This is my first Automatic car so I could be heavy on the pedal but the eco light stays on.

Also I seem to have a knocking /creaking noise from the back on the drivers side any body any ideas ?

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry, can't help with regards to automatic, but short trips will kill good mpg figures in any car and you have a long way to go before it is run in and working at its best.

35mpg is a bit low though!

Favourite culprit for rattles/clonks from the rear is a badly adjusted catch on the folding rear seats, although I have not had it myself. If you do a search on the various earlier posts, you might find some info on it.Apart from that I am not sure what it could be, apart from a loose exhaust or something like that...if in doubt, bother MrT with it.

My iQ is now "quiet" rattle-wise after various deft applications of felt between panels and the removal of the "shopping bag" from the front passengers side which seemed to make no end of odd noises...I have a "thing" about noises in cars (apart from a good throaty engine, missing in an iQ sadly), as you may have guessed.

Hiya Angcas, I have an automatic IQ2 also and have posted in the mileage thread ( Any Real Life Mpg Figures From Owners ). Basically I am getting around 45mpg on a daily suburban run and have checked actual 'litres to fill it up' against what the car computer says. The computer figure is very close to what I get by measuring and re-filling to the pump click-off. Hope this helps - read my comments in the other thread,

With regards the rattling from the back, on the one I test drove I noticed the rear seat belts were knocking against the plastic edge driving me nuts.

A bit of velcro soon sorted that out.

Why Velcro?

Put the rear belt metal/plastic part into the special horizontal slot (see manual!) :!Removed!:

I would read the manual but i'm still waiting for the new car. It was only a demo car I had at the weekend.

Good news to hear there is a slot thou, couldnt see it in the dark.

There is a "Handbook" (German word for manual) >>>

www.toyota.jp/iq/pdf/index.html

Then download the PDF-file and on page 55 you can see the slot

Has anyone found an English-language owner's manual for the Toyota IQ that you can download? I'd like something to read while I'm waiting for my IQ2 to arrive :) I've found (and read) the IQ Brief Guide on www.toyota.co.uk, but I'd love to read the full manual.
