I underestimated the corner and accidentally clipped the curb at about 20mph. I didn't mount it and I think I hit the wheel rim which caused the hub cap to come off. I still drove it home, no problems with steering and I went up to 50mph on the dual carriage way and no problems. Although when I break it does squeak but it squeaked before anyways (prior to the stupid curb clipping) and it doesn't squeak all the time. When I inspected the damage when I got home it seems the wheel rim has lifted off slightly, no damage to the tyre but it was difficult trying to get the hub cap back on.

So I have a few questions: 1. should I book an appointment with my dealership repair center and check everything is ok and 2. How serious is it? and 3. Should I be concerned if the car seems to be driving fine.

Cheers!

I suggest going to your trusted local tyre dealership who will be able to check your wheel alignment and then visually check for other damage, if there is any course

If all comes back OK then I reckon you have been quite lucky

Thanks Pheonix. Unfortunately it's a Sunday and I'm off to work now, I'm going to attempt to drive my car and will have to book an appointment on Monday. Fingers crossed I have no problems.

Cheers!

Squeaking is most likely the breaks. Most cars have this, mine does it alot.

There's a couple of things you can do before monday to get an idea of the extent of the damage. Drive down a flat/even road at 10-20mph, with steering wheel straight, let go of the steering wheel, then brake. You can also do this without braking. In both events the car should stay straight.

Also, if youve got a cam handy you could post up a pic of the visible damage :)

Your spare wheel is a full size wheel. I suggest using the spare until you check the balance of damaged wheel

As you have clipped a kerb it might be a good idea to get the steering tracking checked at the tyre dealers at the same time
