Hi :help:

I have a 2007 Auris 1.6 and the front tyres now need replaced 205 x 55 16

it currently has the factory fitted contnental tyres ( which I am not a fan off ) but I think these

tyres wear in quite quickly

The front passenger side tyre is almost bald on the outside, I had the tracking checked it this

was said to be fine. :ffs:

Can anyone please advise why this tyre maybe rubbing on the outside and also Im looking

for suggestions on Good replacement tyres ( reasonalbly priced ) 205 x 55 x 16

I don't think the Auris handles so well so any suggestions on the tyre or the rubbing issue

would be much appreciated

Best Regards

Stuart :yahoo:

Disagreed, I think they are very poor in the wet. Can you get Michelin Pilot Exalto 2s in your size? If so get them. Brillant in the dry and wet and hard wearing. Got 16000 out of a set on my 2.0 Clio and most tyres were killed by about 10k!

Any suggestions about the outer tyre wear ?

How many miles have you done? My wife and I both have an Auris 1.6 and the tyres do seem to wear on the edges quicker than I would expect. I have increased the pressure to 36 psi and that seems to help with a more even wear pattern. I have done 17000 miles so far and still have about 4mm of tread left.

I've done 20k on the original dunlop tyres on the t180 and i'm still in the green on the tyre "health check" during service.

Can't remember what the green zone is, maybe >4mm or 6mm. But it goes green, orange, red.

I do throw it around form time to time too.

Oh and if anyone changes their tyres, make sure the new ones go on the back. Its always best to have good tread on the back as these rear tyres are to keep contact with the road especially in wet conditions. If they are low on tread then esp. in wet conditions the tyres can't cut through / clear the water and you will loose the back end A LOT quicker if there isn't enough tread to clear water and make contact with the road.

I have researched this to death (along with another house car a WRX). The Falken FK-452 are the best value IMO. They have the same wet performance as Eagle F1's but the harder compound lasts longer, cheaper to buy, good traction in all conditions and progressive loss of somewhat limited cornering grip in the dry. They have poor dry grip for the first 400 miles but progressive break away keeps you safe.

SP 01 have superb dry grip but like many high performance tyres are made of cheese.

Cheap and grip is Hankook Z212 - rec.
I have not tested these and not seen them in the UK. I would consider it next time but they look like they are aiming at track day cars so wear will be high if not as high as R888 or Dunlop Max etc....

Yeah very good advice. Same goes for a puncture, you don't want one new tyre as this will effect breaking stability. Also with these modern front heavy cars inflate the front's a few PSI more to prevent edge wear.
